If Compton’s Cafeteria feels new to you, that’s exactly why this Tuesday we’re screening Screaming Queens: The Riot at Compton’s Cafeteria for Trans History Month.

The Emmy Award-winning documentary brings together archival footage and firsthand stories from the trans and q***r people, activists, and others who were there when years of police harassment boiled over into resistance in San Francisco’s Tenderloin.

And when the film ends, Affirmations Executive Director Tracy Hall will lead a conversation about Compton’s, trans resistance, q***r political power, and how much of our history disappears when Stonewall becomes the only story we know.
That’s THIS Tuesday. Free. And absolutely worth knowing about.

In 1966 before Stonewell there was the Compton Cafeteria Riots were members of the transgender, drag and gender non-conforming community stood up to harassment by the Police
Department in San Francisco's Tenderloin District. This marked the first moment of politicization for the trans community. Join us for a screening of a documentary of this event that has often been
forgotten. Talk back and Q and A to follow.

the transgender community.

Join Actress and Playwright Julia Marsh in her award winning one person show, "Please Give Me Your Money So I Can Buy A Va**na," where she shares her intimate personal story of self-confidence to be able to live her authentic life. Her account is both hilarious and moving.

This time of year, is usually associated with joy. Yet for many people in the LGBT, it is a time of loneliness. Family can be a lot of different things and there is no need to be alone. Spend the holiday with your LGBT family! Gender-identity Network Alliance (GNA) is sponsoring their annual holiday potluck and hope all of you can join us. This dinner is for the LGBT community, Allies, and Friends.

All of us at GNA like to say … “Who Else would you want to spend the holiday with?” — Why not attend our potluck Holiday Potluck? Main dishes will be provided and the other dishes will be supplied by anyone able to bring a side dish or dessert. If you are at a place where you are unable to bring something don’t let that stop you from coming.

Look forward to seeing new faces and getting re-acquainted with old friends. Hugs to everyone this holiday season as we are about to start 2026!
