Masks covering your mouth and nose are mandatory to enter Nassau Humane Society Buildings, including NHS Second Chance and The Closet.
We are following CDC Guidelines during the Covid 19 outbreak. We appreciate your cooperation in wearing a mask and maintaining social distance while in our stores. Our bathroom is closed to the public until further notice.

*Yes, we do have Free Donation Pick-Up! Appointments are available Monday through Thursday by appointment, holidays excluded. Our pick up area is all of Amelia Island and West to the intersection of State Road 200 and Highway 17. Call 904.321.0022 to ask for more information or an appointment.
Donations Welcome!
NHS Second Chance and The Closet accept clean, saleable items in working order. We do not do consignment sales.
Due to the recent influx (ok, tsunami) of small-item donations and the need to follow CDC Guidelines, our drop off policy and hours have changed.
FURNITURE & LARGE APPLIANCES: Furniture in gently used condition may be dropped off at the FRONT of the store 9:30 to 5:00, Monday through Saturday. Items that are dirty or damaged will not be accepted.
SMALL ITEMS IN BOXES OR BAGS & SMALL APPLIANCES: Smaller items are accepted through the BACK DOOR in the alley, 9:30 am to 12:30 pm Monday through Saturday ONLY.
A good rule of thumb for donations is to ask yourself if you would buy it as it is. On a scale of 1-10, is it at least a 7? Is it in good condition with all the pieces? There is a word for items that “just need to be fixed.” That word is “broken,” and broken items just don’t sell. In fact, they actually cost us money. We happily accept Christmas items starting in October!
We do not accept:
*Hanging Lighting/Chandeliers
* Over-sized entertainment centers/armoires or executive desk systems
*Mattresses or box springs
*(most) Cribs, High Chairs and child safety seats cannot be accepted because of safety recalls & expiration dates
*Pianos or Organs
*Used computers (desk or laptop)
*Used printers
*Televisions (except flat screens in good, working condition)
*Stereo systems
*VCRs
*Dishwashers
*Exercise Equipment (ellipticals, weight benches, weights, exercise bikes, rowing machines, treadmills, etc...)
*Area Rugs over 5x7’
*Metal File Cabinets
*Occasionally we are unable to accept a donation due to its condition or our available space.
*We can’t accept items that have been water damaged, are moldy, mildewed, chewed, folded, torn, spindled, mutilated or covered in critter droppings. That’s just icky.
Our Donation Coordinator may refuse an item if it is in poor condition, too large to manage or if it is on an upper floor and an elevator is unavailable to bring the item/s down.
