It was definitely a slower Saturday for sea turtle nesting. However, AISTW reached 100 loggerhead nests so far this season. WOW! Congrats to Pam Bruno and Traci Newman, as well as Holly Pollack and Mark Fresonke for helping us to get to that number! It is a great Saturday morning already. (MTP-088)

Do you ever have one of those weeks where there is so much going on and you aren't really sure what day it is? That has been true this week with nesting. We are actually to Fantastic Friday, with 5 more loggerhead nests marked this morning. This puts our AISTW total to 97 and over 100 if you add in the state parks. Congratulations to Laura Skillman, Michelle Mauch and the Worchal family this morning. Such a great day to be out, slight wind, no bugs, and nests! (MTP-088)

Less wind but still 5 new loggerhead nests this morning that were marked off on AISTW beaches. Congratulations to Cindy Miller on her very first of the 2026 season. Hasn't the wind plus the cooler temperatures made it very pleasant to be out there? Only June 4th and we are at 91 loggerhead nests for AISTW. (MTP-088)

Windy Wednesday for sure. Great for keeping the bugs away. But, the wind makes it especially difficult to not only notice sea turtle tracks, but to pick up the clues on the nest itself. Despite this, we added 5 more loggerhead nests for AISTW. Congratulations to Jane Sobieski, David and Sharon Randa, Danielle Voss and Adrea Leuschner. If you are wondering about the tall stakes you see around our nests, have you noticed that they are only in the beach driving areas? It makes the nests more visible to tall vehicles. Better for them and the nest! (MTP-088)

Whew! We had 13 activities today, 7 of which were loggerhead nests and 6 false loggerhead crawls. That's a very active day. The turtle phone was a bit noisy, for sure. Congratulations to Barb Herum and her very first of the season! Also, to Lora Adkins for another nest! Further down the island, Gail Morgan came upon 2 nests. Nice to see all those staked, yellow taped areas all along our beach. (MTP-088)

Today was indeed a magnificent Monday. We had 10 loggerhead nests to find and mark this morning. Congratulations to Valerie Wright and her friend Deborah; to Linda and Bruce V***a who had not one, but 2 nests to get happy about. In addition, Denise and Paul Manderfield, number 3 for them. This brings us up to 74 nests on AISTW beach. Wow! (MTP-088)

Another active sea turtle nesting night on Amelia Island. Definitely not a sleepy Saturday morning! AISTW added 4 more loggerhead nests, bringing us up to 62 now. Congratulations to Weller's, as well as Mike and Leslie Dempsey on another loggerhead nest (picture). Can we keep this trend going? It's all up to the turtles! (MTP-088)

The end of the regular work week but not for our loggerhead turtles. We had 3 more loggerhead moms nest last night, bringing us up to 58. I would say, "who's counting", but we are! Remember we are data collectors for FWC! Congratulations to The Worchals, Tanya Ross, Kelly Marine, Sharon Randa and Dave Randa. Beautiful way to start the day. (MTP-088)
