Lets Grab the Tab 2021

What an amazing day!!! All I can say is thank you to all who donated, all who shared and all who volunteered to make this years “Let’s Grab the Tab” another successful event. We provided meals for over half of all of the 146 families yesterday registered with the “FIT” program within the Nassau county school system. There are another good portion of those families will be picking up their meals today. Any of the meals that were purchased and will not be picked up, will be donated to the Journey Church so they can bless families this week in need.
We want to say a very special thank you to James Thomson and the team he assembled at super wal mart to help make this happen. Little did we know there is a TURKEY SHORTAGE??? but James and his peers at super Wal Mart were able to secure what we needed in time to make all of this possible. Also a special thank you to Darryl E Bellar and the outreach team at the Journey church for use of the refrigerated truck, Santa for taking time out of his busy schedule to put smiles on kids faces take pictures and help load the meals, Brandy Deberry and the babies for helping us to get all the meals purchase for the families, Mark Gearis and the Turtle Team for always showing up and showing out, and all who donated or volunteered to make this possible.
Thank you all for your continued support! NONE OF THIS WOULD HAPPEN WITHOUT PEOPLE LIKE YOU WHO CONTINUE TO PUT OHERS IN NEED IN FRONT OF YOURSELVES.
We love you, we thank you and we can not wait untill the next opportunity presents itself to help out those in need in our community. MERRY CHRISTMAS !!!!!

Tomorrow is the day! Sunday 12/19/2022 we will gather in the parking lot behind the Greent Turtle between 10-2 to make sure these 146 Families receive their Christmas dinners. We have a number of families who have committed to pick up the meals and quite a few who will need the meals delivered. We will also be reaching out to the families that we have yet to make contact with today about receiving their meals. We need volunteers to help us in the pick up area and help to deliver these meals into the community to those who do not have transportation or can not pick up tomorrow during this time. If you can help please contact Mark Gearis or myself to discuss further.

Thank you all who have donated, to those who have offered to volunteer and to all of you who continue to support this community. We hope to see you all tomorrow after the Christmas dinner event from 3-5 at the Green Turtle to celebrate these families and celebrate YOU ALL!!!! who have made this possible.

Good morning Nassau, 3 DAYS TO GO! till our second annual “Let’s Grab the Tab” fundraiser to provide a Christmas Dinner to every family registered with the “FIT” program in the Nassau County School system. We still need your help!!!!

Round 2 of contacts were made yesterday and we have seen an amazing response from these families. WE NEED VOLUNTEERS!! Please contact Mark Gearis or myself if you can help out in any way on either Saturday or Sunday.

We have families still in need of your sponsorship!Thank you to those who have already sponsored a family / s. We still have families who need your help. If you have previously typed “yes” but not donated yet you can do so by dropping cash or a check anytime at the Green Turtle or by Venmo to -Puca-1. There have been a few families added to the list since our original post, and we will be reaching out to them today. You can sponsor a family by simply typing “Yes” in the comments below and someone will be in touch soon to discuss further.

Happy Monday Nassau! We are less than 3 weeks away from our 2nd Annual "Lets Grab the Tab" Christmas Fundraiser to proved a full course Christmas Dinner to all 146 Homless Families in the Nassau County School system and WE NEED YOUR HELP!!!!

Volunteers - We have a number of volunteering needs including, but not limited to planning, preperation, communication, pick-up, delivery and all that comes in between. If you or someone you know would like to volunteer for this event please contact either Mark Gearis or myslef to learn more.
Donations - If you are an individual or a small business owner who would like to contribute financially to help us meet our goal of $5000 you can do so online or you can make a donation at any time during normal business hours at the Green Turtle. Please make all checks payable to "NCSB" (Nassau County School Board) and include in the bottom left "FIT PROGRAM". Or....simply contact Mark Gearis or myself to learn more on how to do so. We partnered with the facebook fundraiser last year and leaned that facebook does not deposit the money into your account for almost two months following closure of the fundraiser. This Go Fund Me accoount will allows for us to get your donations where it is needed most almost as soon as it is donated.
Silent Auction Items - On December 19th at 3PM we will gather at the Green Turtle to celebrate YOU and your continued commitment to take care of our own here in Nassau County. We will have live entertainment, rarffles, door prizes, a slient auction, food and drink specials and much much more. If you would like to donate items to be auctioned in our silent auction this year please contact either Mark Gearis or myself to learn more on how to do so.

During the 2020-2021 School year it is recorded that there are roughly 258 homless students from 146 homless families here in Nassau County. Homless as defined by the FIT (Families in transition) Program of Nassau County is living on the streets, in a shelter, in a vehicle, in a campground or an abandoned building. Nonetheless inadequate accommodations for a child of any age.

Once again this year we plan to partner with the FIT Program of Nassau County to provide a full course Christmas Dinner to each and every one of these children and families. We will come together on the morning of Sunday December 19th at the Green Turtle to schedule both pick up and delivery options to each and every one of these families to to make sure they receive the Christmas DInner. Then…..at 3PM we will gather at the Green Turtle to celebrate these families and all of you Nassau!!!! for taking care of our own.
