Yesterday, we had the privilege of hosting a barrier-breaking continuing education event, welcoming local clinicians to our campus and over 750 professionals tuning in from across the country.

Our CEO, Sarah Summey, and Tom Parker co-facilitated a dynamic conversation focused on progressing how we understand psychosis and care delivery. We were honored to hear from thought leaders Jon Stevens, MD MPH, our Medical Director, and Michael Groat, Ph.D., President and CEO of Lindner Center of Hope, who explored powerfully innovative ways to reimagine what drives recovery in psychosis.

A special thank you to the Lindner Center of HOPE for sharing in this experience and helping us advance compassionate, evidence-based care.

Our staff came together this week for a music therapy drum circle, and the energy in the room said it all. πŸ₯

Music therapy is more than rhythm. It builds connection, reduces stress, and reminds us why we do this work. When our team experiences the same modalities our residents benefit from, it deepens empathy and strengthens the care we provide.

This is what investing in our people looks like. πŸ’™

Some of the most meaningful moments don't happen in a therapy room.

They happen out on the water, where the breeze is steady, the sky is open, and something shifts. Shoulders drop. Breathing slows. A resident settles into a moment that truly belongs to them.

Our boat program exists because a resident told us how much being on the water mattered to them. We listened. And then we made it happen.

At Lakewood, independence and joy aren't treatment goals. They're everyday life. That's what it means to meet people where they are.

This is what a Thursday afternoon at Lakewood looks like. πŸ¦β˜€οΈ

An ice cream pool party, a sundae bar stacked with options, and a community that showed up to enjoy every scoop of it.

These are the moments that make this place feel like home.

More summer ahead. πŸ’™

For adults living with chronic serious mental illness, care isn't a short-term fix. It's a way of life.

At Lakewood Center, whole-person care means our residents have access to everything they need to thrive: medical and psychiatric services, individual and group therapy, life skills development, a Therapeutic Work Program that builds real-world confidence, and supported pathways into community living.

No rushed timelines. No arbitrary discharge goals. Just stable, individualized care built around each person's reality.

New federal guidance is now urging systems to adopt this integrated model. We've been living it since 1970.

This is what whole-person care actually looks like in practice.

This week, we showed up for Mental Health Awareness Month the best way we know how: together.

We provided staff with wellness activities and mental health tips and tricks, and encouraged our residents to get involved too. Spirit Week brought it all to life, with Decades Day, Tropical Beach Day, Tacky Day, and Message Shirt Day, where staff wore T-shirts with positive, caring messages written right on them.

Fun, connection, and a whole lot of good vibes. That's community care.
