Someplace Safe Parenting Time Centers Parenting Time Centers provide safe, neutral spaces where children can maintain healthy relationships with their parents.

Across West Central MN and beyond, we support connection, healing, and stability, one parenting time and safe exchange at a time. Someplace Safe Parenting Time Centers are designed to assure that children can have safe and conflict-free access to parents and family through a variety of services delivered by trained providers. The PTC and its staff encourage respectful communication within families

, help to establish a parenting time routine, provide parenting tips, and offer parents referrals to other community resources. Each center provides a safe, neutral location for drop off, pick up and visitation of children. Someplace Safe’s Parenting Time Centers are members of the Minnesota Chapter of the Supervised Visitation Network.

The constancy of the parent-child relationship is key to a child’s sense of security, feelings of self-worth, and development. Yet, many children today are deeply and adversely affected by lack of quality contact with a parent due to situations out of their control, including divorce, separation or family violence and abuse.
Someplace Safe Parenting Time Centers (PTC) play a crucial role in facilitating safe and healthy parent-child interactions, promoting consistency, and offering support to families in need. PTC services include:

Supervised visits and exchanges
Scheduling assistance
Virtual and Zoom visits
Nurturing Parenting classes

We remember Joshua Robert Downey, the seventh confirmed victim of domestic violence-related homicide in Minnesota in 2026.
Joshua Robert Downey was the Parks Supervisor for Blue Earth County. His colleagues said he “cared very deeply for the parks.” Joshua was described by loved ones as “a devoted dad, a hard worker, and a genuinely kind person” who “above all else, loved his children...His greatest joy in life was being their dad.” He leaves behind two children.
