Otter Country Trail Association

Otter Country Trail Association Our 360 plus miles of Grant-In-Aid and club trails are groomed when we have a 12"-18" base.

Grooming Update: With the recent warm weather over the weekend and this week, all grooming operations will be suspended until we get more snow again. Also a friendly reminder that atv's and utv's are never allowed on our Grant-In-Aid Snowmobile Trails. We all need to respect the landowners property and stay on the marked trails, without their generosity of allowing the snowmobile trails on their property there would be no snowmobile trail system for all to enjoy.

The group leader is the most important position in any ride.

A good leader doesn’t ride for the fastest person in the group — they ride for the least experienced rider.

Leading at speeds beyond the comfort level of newer or less advanced riders creates pressure to “keep up.” That’s when mistakes happen. Fatigue sets in. Corners get misjudged. Obstacles get missed.

And that’s when injuries and accidents occur.

Smart group riding means:
✔ Set a pace comfortable for the least experienced rider
✔ Watch your mirrors and check your group often
✔ Stop at intersections to regroup
✔ Make sure everyone knows the plan

No one should feel rushed, left behind, or forced to ride beyond their ability.

A safe ride is a successful ride.

Good morning all; By the end of today all our trails should be groomed where possible, there are bare spots in areas and fields will be bare. Please Ride Right, Ride Accordingly to trail conditions, Ride Safe, and stop for all Stop Signs.

GROOMER ETIQUETTE: Please when coming up from behind a groomer you must wait for the groomer driver to come to a complete stop and motion you to pass by, this is for everyone's safety. When approaching a groomer try to pull off to the side of the trail as far as you can and please stay on your side of the trail and again wait for the groomer operator to come to a complete stop and motion you through. The longer a trail stays untouched or ridden on the better the trail will set up and lasts longer for all to enjoy. Air tempatures greatly affect this also as the colder the temperature the quicker the trail sets up, verses when it's warmer temperatures outside it will take longer to set up. Ride Right, Ride Safely and have fun out riding the Otter Country Trail Association snowmobile trails.

We are out grooming the trails where we can find sufficient snow, lots of bare spots, and all the plowed fields are bare, we need more snow, is time to do a snow dance! Remember to Ride Right side of the trails. Ride Safely and remember to stop at all Stop Signs. And please stay on the marked trails, do not trespass without the generosity of all of our landowners, there would be no trail system.

“Appreciation Reminder”

Before complaining about trail conditions
Remember:
✔ Volunteers brush the trail
✔ Volunteers put up every sign
✔ Volunteers reroute when landowners say no
✔ Volunteers groom through the night
✔ Volunteer your time. Join a club, get involved

Your trail system runs on volunteer hours.
Please support them. Respect them. Thank them. And most Important is without the generosity of our landowners using their property there would be no trail system, please respect their property and stay in the marked trail. Thank you.

Good Morning All, here is our Tuesday December 16th Trail Report Update: we are hoping by Friday to have gone over our whole system providing that is doesn't get too warm today, or too much rain tomorrow. We all need to do a snow dance, or say a prayer for measurable snow for Thursday that they are predicting. Now with that being said, plowed fields are going to be rough until we can get more snow pac over them, and as always this is early snow conditions so Ride Safely, Ride Ride, and Ride Accordingly to the conditions of the trail.

11/28/2025

Happy Thanksgiving to all, just A friendly reminder that the trails do not open until December 1st. Ponds, swamps, and drainage ditches are not frozen over yet. Do us all a favor and stay home till you hear from us that the trails are ready to be packed down. We will have lots of riding once things freeze. Please respect our landowners property, without them we wouldn't have a trail system for all to use.
