Monday was another full day at the Biennial Convention!

The day began with a business session, including a special greeting from Pastor Haruya Ito, who, along with his wife Fumi, are ministry partners with Dean and Linda Bengtson in Japan. We also heard from a panel sharing stories and experiences of “Unleashing New Leaders” in different areas of ministry and life. In the afternoon, delegates participated in Convention Committees and heard reports from the Directors of the CLB.

The day concluded with the evening worship service, where Rev. Mark Nienow was installed as the new president of the Church of the Lutheran Brethren. President Paul Larson shared a message on the theme, “Unleash New Leaders: Generations.”

It was a wonderful day of worship, connection, and encouragement as we continue to celebrate God’s work through the CLB and look ahead to the future He is leading us toward.

Yesterday was the DAY OF COMMUNITY, and it was a beautiful day together!

The day started with worship at Good Shepherd LB Church, where Rev. Roger Viksness shared a message on “The Posture of the Unleashed.” After worship, everyone headed to the Hillcrest football field for a picnic lunch and an afternoon filled with fellowship, carnival games, and a Kubb tournament. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect, catch up with friends, and enjoy time together as the CLB family.

The evening continued with a special worship service where the CLB commissioned Rev. Dave Martin as a Church Planter for the Church of the Lutheran Brethren. Dave will begin planting a new church in South Willoughby, OH, on July 1. Pastor Drew Skog brought a message centered on the theme “Shaped to Be Sent,” reminding us of God’s call to go and share the hope of Christ.

The service concluded with a time of recognizing Steve Tonneson and LaWayne Rogness, celebrating Steve’s retirement and LaWayne’s transition to reduced hours. We are thankful for their faithful service and the many ways they have served the Lord and the CLB.

Thank you for being part of such a memorable day! Join us tonight at 7:00 p.m. for worship as Rev. Mark Nienow is installed as President of the CLB.

Yesterday was a GREAT start to the 2026 Biennial Convention!

The day began with registration, coffee, and the opportunity for people from churches across North America to reconnect. It was a full day, including business sessions, the election of the new CLB President, Theological Council, and Council of Directors members, a seminar with speaker David Zahl, and a special celebration of the CLB’s 125th anniversary. At the same time, the Women’s Convention gathered for a day of fellowship, worship, and encouraging messages from Carissa Stauss and Beka Nadgwick.

The evening concluded with a worship service where Dr. Troy Tysdal, President of Lutheran Brethren Seminary, shared a message, and LBIM missionaries Paul and Teresa Szobody were recognized for nearly 30 years of faithful ministry as they prepare for retirement.

Join us today at 9:30 a.m. for worship at Good Shepherd LB Church, followed by the Day of Community at Hillcrest Football Field from 11:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. We look forward to another great day of fellowship together!

In today’s DMC Minute, Paul Tjelta shares about "The Quiet Hour," a collection of 365 daily meditations written by CLB pastors and missionaries. Originally published in celebration of the Church of the Lutheran Brethren’s 50th anniversary and now reprinted for its 125th anniversary, "The Quiet Hour" serves as a lasting testimony to God’s faithfulness through generations.

This special reprint will be available for purchase at the 2026 Biennial Convention, taking place June 13–16. We look forward to celebrating together and giving thanks for God’s continued work throughout the CLB.
