Congratulations to Jack for completing the construction of his Eagle Scout project this weekend! 🦅
Our troop is proud of the work Jack did in leading the construction of a new informational kiosk at the Lick Creek Trailhead in the Hoosier National Forest, near Paoli. The planning and leadership were evident with supplies, tools, and some would say most importantly food to feed the work crew (not all of whom are pictured here).
The Lick Creek Trailhead is a unique spot, popular with horseback riders, but also a place with deep history: the trail passes near the Roberts & Thomas Family Cemetery, the last remaining trace of the Lick Creek Settlement which was one of Indiana's earliest free Black communities, settled in the early 1800s by free Black pioneers and Quaker allies who journeyed north together. Jack's kiosk will help the Forest Service communicate with visitors to help protect and enjoy this significant archeological area. Read more about the history here: https://www.fs.usda.gov/r09/hoosier/recreation/discover-history/lick-creek-african-american-settlement
Jack didn't just build a kiosk. He built a lasting connection between our community, the outdoors, and a piece of history worth remembering.
Way to go, Jack! We can't wait to see you complete the paperwork and board of review! 🦅

The outdoor program is one of the key methods of scouting where scouts learn to be self-reliant and challenge themselves to learn and practice new skills. That was on full display last weekend as we camped at Patoka Lake and spent a day having fun on the water. Scouts practiced water skiing, knee boarding, tubing, and just goofing around. The weather kept us on our toes with storms passing by, but thankfully we didn't need to take emergency cover.

Congrats to our scouts who received their rank up Monday evening during court of honor! Their hard work is showing.

Welcome home to our Philmont Crew!
The 13 members are back from an incredible 10-day backpacking adventure through the mountains of Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico! They hiked rugged trails, camped under wide-open skies, and pushed themselves further than they ever have before.

We couldn't be prouder of these Scouts for their grit, teamwork, and determination out on the trail. Check out some of the amazing photos from their journey below!

...and we are back home. A little smelly, a little tired, and a lot more gritty. Lots of memories and stories to share around future campfires. Dry houses and comfy beds are such great blessings. Good job this week scouts! Thanks staff at Pfeffer Scout Reservation!

The troop enjoyed a beautiful day at camp. Today's two main themes from the scout law may have been "helpful" and "clean". Did you know 19 scouts could spend 30 minutes cleaning 6 bathrooms? Teamwork got the job done, and it was nice to see scouts taking charge of specific tasks.
