The entire Bay Area is under a flood advisory for rains expected to begin shortly and last into Thursday. Prepare now! If your property has experienced flooding in the past, you are at risk of being flooded again. Those with mobility issues who feel unsafe in their homes may want to make alternative arrangements now.

A friend of mine, Ron Goodman, made a short video titled Forgotten Creek, and as it has to do with Santa Cruz history and human interaction/interference with waterways, I thought others might like to see it. Ron wrote to me that "Interestingly, though I didn’t really go into it in the film, it probably did connect with the San Lorenzo when the Spanish arrived. It probably continued down what is now Laurel St. all the way to the river. Its current path into Neary Lagoon was part of the Spanish redirection to “tame” it."
