People for Better Housing, Inc. People for Better Housing is a non-profit organization that focuses on providing low-income housing for families. People for Better Housing, Inc.

(“PBH”), is a nonprofit, rural housing development corporation, organized in 1976 and incorporated in 1977. The board of nine members is elected from the membership, and four officers are elected from the board. With both support and technical assistance in the past from NCALL Research, Inc., since the establishment of the organization and several developments we have been successful in several co

mmunities, committees and agencies. Long term partnerships have been established, developed and achieved. PBH constructed their first rural housing project in 1981. Laurel Grove Acres I, a multi-family rental housing development, consists of thirty-seven, 1-4 bedroom apartments. Laurel Grove Acres I, a subsidized complex is located in Caroline County in Federalsburg, MD. In 2000, the development of Laurel Grove Acres II & III began. Both developed for low & moderate income families. These complexes consist of 2 & 3 bedroom apartments. Additionally, PBH constructed 20 units on Holland Drive, which was built with the intention of families transitioning from low-income apartments to single family homeowners. PBH will use its mission to stabilize and revitalize neighborhoods by promoting and building community pride and improving the overall quality of life in our neighborhoods.
