As President of the Rotary Club of Federal Way the past two years, I have attended numerous trainings, conferences and meetings. I’ve learned about the history, the accomplishments and the future of this great organization. I’ve laughed, I’ve cried (mostly tears of joy) and I’ve come to know some intelligent, compassionate and amazing people, who I'm honored to serve alongside and call friends.

Thank you, Federal Way Rotary. Last night’s Pass the Gavel at Billy McHale’s was a wonderful wrap up of my years as President. I’m grateful for the opportunities and the lessons the past two years of have taught me as I learned to lead — not flawlessly, but hopefully with more grace and gratitude (and fewer spreadsheets) than I started with. To be transparent, the journey was not without some challenges (and some tears), some of which I inherited, some of which I created, and all of which, as Bill Feldt said, "you faced with characteristic tenacity". Together, we accomplished a lot and had fun ( #5 of The 4 Way Test) doing it. Thank you for the support, the teamwork, and the memories.

I would be remiss, if I did not also mention the Rotarian of the Year Award (photo in Comments) was given to Christine Katayama, for her service as Scholarship Chair. But wait, there's more! She was integral in the acquisition of a District 5030 grant to fund the outreach and support of local seniors. But wait, there's more! Then, with the help of several other Rotarians, she pulled together a phenomenal BINGO Social at the PAEC in Federal Way. Simply said, Christine exemplifies Service Above Self.

Please enjoy the perfectly imperfect installation of our next President, Bill Feldt, performed by Cindy Ducich.

Immediate Past President,
Sallye Lindsay
