Layperson: Do Not Put Your Hand "Pray Over" Anyone You Are Not in Authority With‼️
What is your authority to pray over someone who is not your immediate family member? Do not attempt also to do deliverance unless you have authority-unless you have Bishop approval, especially for lay faithful and members of the Charismatic Community. Yes, there can be success, but the problem is it can retaliate to you, family members, career, business, finances, employment, married life, relationship with children, effect on your children like they do disobedience and doing sinful things, accidents, and many more... so be careful.
When someone asks you for prayer, you may pray together, or ask the Blessed Mother, Holy Angels, and Saints to intercede for them rather than declaratively pray over them.
Example: do not say: "In the name of Jesus, I rebuke Satan and sickness of cancer to the body of Alex" (your neighbor or just a stranger asking for prayer). The devil will take it seriously because you don't have authority.
Instead, you say: "Our Lady of Sorrows, pray for Alexander who is suffering from cancer."
Fr. Chad Ripperger, a prominent exorcist, warns us not to lay our hands or attempt to pray for someone for deliverance and binding prayer (for healing too) if we are not in the authority of that person. We can only ask the Saints and Blessed Mother to supplicate for them. The devil knows and follows the natural authority like husband and wife, parents to children, children to parents, and sibling to siblings, grandparents to grandchild. Aunts, uncles, friends, relatives, and anything outside the immediate family have no authority-thus we pray in supplication to Saints and Mama Mary so there would be no affliction or retaliation.
Priests, bishops, cardinals, and the Pope have full authority over the faithful, so if you are sick, oppressed, and obsessed, seek their prayers and help.
Bible Verse: "Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." (James 4:7)
Saint Quote: "We are not allowed to do by ourselves what God has reserved for His ministers." - St. Francis de Sales
