Many people don't realize how closely homelessness and reentry are connected.

For someone returning from incarceration, one of the biggest challenges is finding stable housing.

Without housing, it's harder to:
• Find employment
• Maintain healthcare
• Reconnect with family
• Meet probation or supervision requirements
• Build long-term stability

That's one reason homelessness and recidivism often overlap.

Housing alone doesn't solve every problem, but it provides a foundation to address the challenges that come next.

At Reentry & Community Solutions, we serve both individuals experiencing housing instability and those returning from incarceration because the barriers are often connected.

When people have access to support, resources, and stability, they are better positioned to move forward successfully.

🧡 June is Gun Violence Awareness Month.

Many acts of violence begin long before a weapon is involved.

They begin with unresolved trauma.
Anger.
Conflict.
Hopelessness.
Lack of support.
Poor decision-making skills.

That's why prevention matters.

Violence prevention isn't just about responding after something happens. It's about helping people develop the tools to navigate life's challenges before a crisis occurs.

Teaching emotional intelligence.

Teaching conflict resolution.

Teaching communication.

Teaching people how to pause before reacting.

Teaching young people that walking away is strength, not weakness.

At Reentry & Community Solutions, we believe safer communities are built through prevention, intervention, accountability, and opportunity.

Because violence prevention begins long before violence occurs.

🧡 Prevention. Intervention. Second Chances.

📄 KNOW YOUR RIGHTS: AOC-CR-415

Did you know that North Carolina provides a process for individuals to request relief from certain court fines, fees, and other monetary obligations?

The AOC-CR-415 form allows individuals to ask the court to review their ability to pay and request relief based on their financial circumstances.

This does not guarantee approval, but it is a resource many people may not know exists.

💥🏠 BUILDING A FOUNDATION FOR SUCCESS BEFORE RELEASE! 🏠💥

Today, participants in the GRIT Program with RCS Reentry & Community Solutions took part in a financial literacy session focused on opening and maintaining personal bank accounts. 🏦✨

A special thank you to Marcus Jenkins for his continued support of RCS and for helping make opportunities like this possible for the individuals we serve. 👏🏾💙

For many individuals preparing to return to the community, success starts before release. That’s why the GRIT Program focuses on more than just employment. While helping participants prepare for the workforce and connect to job opportunities is important, we also work to reduce barriers that can stand in the way of long-term success. 💪🏾🚀

Every week, RCS staff meet with participants to provide support, guidance, and practical tools that help prepare them for a successful transition back into the community. Our goal is to ensure that individuals are not leaving incarceration without a plan, but instead are returning home with resources, support, and a foundation for success. 🤝🏾🏠

From workforce development and employment readiness to financial literacy, housing assistance, basic needs support, peer support services, and connections to community resources, we work alongside participants to address the challenges they may face before and after release. 💼📚💳🏠❤️

Today’s lesson on banking is a great example of why preparation matters. A bank account may seem simple, but it can be the first step toward receiving direct deposit, managing money responsibly, building savings, and creating financial stability. 💵📈

At RCS, we believe reducing recidivism starts with preparation, opportunity, and ongoing support. We are committed to helping participants develop a plan before release and ensuring they know where to turn for support after release. Our work doesn’t stop at the gate—we strive to connect individuals with the resources and services that can help them build stable, productive lives in the community. 🔑✨

The GRIT Program is about growth, opportunity, and giving people the tools they need to move forward—before release and long after they return home. 🚀💙
