Seth's Wish At 9 years old, Seth made a wish. His wish was to help the homeless and hungry. We are working to make his wish come true every day.

We provide hot meals, grocery and snack bags, clothing, hygiene items and other basic essentials needed for survival.

Another successful Free Lunch Thursday! We saw sooooo many familiar faces today that we haven't seen in so long, since we had our building Downtown on Cool Spring Street. And as always, my favorite part is when lunch is over and we have time to just talk and catch up on everyone's week.

Happy Tuesday! I'm planning Thursdays Free Lunch and I need some help pulling it off this week. A few weeks ago we did subs with chips, sweets and drinks it was a big hit so that's the plan. I already have the sweets covered from a Panera donation and a donation of mix for lemon pound cake that I'll make.

I need help covering the cost of stuff to make about 50 subs, a few boxes of single serve chips and a couple cases of water. If you can help, every single dollar counts, here's how to donate....

🌺 Happy Sunday 🌸

This week's updates.....first, check out the pretty Lilly's that are starting to bloom in the memorial garden!

We're staying busy getting things ready to open the weekly pantry and clothing closet back up again, it's taking longer than expected, because life is always lifing lol. I'm slightly overwhelmed with a lot right now but working as fast as I can. No one wants this to happen more than me and I promise if you are patient with me it will all be so worth it! I'm hopeful we will be able to be up and running in July.

Until then.....you can always find us serving Free Lunch on Thursdays at the edge of Festival Park in Downtown Fayetteville at 11:00. We still need help pulling this off every single week. More people are showing up weekly to get lunch and other things and we are having to prepare more and more. The cost of purchasing the meat alone stretches volunteers personal budgets every week. We need help to keep up.

Drinks, sides and snacks can be purchased on our Amazon Wish List. We will be updating it with more pantry/hygiene items when that's up and running again. I've also added a couple of other needs to the Wish List. We still need 2 more crock pots to help with prepping Free Lunches and we have a need for a portable AC unit.

Justin "Cartel" Kerr Memorial Garden

To plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow!

This garden is a place for sharing happy stories and keeping love filled memories alive for all of the wonderfully quirky and free spirited souls that our Seth's Wish Family has lost.

Since having to leave our space on Reilly Rd in February our Memorial Garden has found a new home and it is THRIVING!

For those who don't know, Justin was a part of Seth's Wish for years and a huge part of getting the center on Reilly Rd ready to open.

Justin had a heart for the people that most others avoided and thought were a lost cause. A man by the name of Jeff was in his 50s, had spent almost all of his adult life in prison, and when he was out he was addicted to drugs. Justin saw the person behind all of that. Because of Justin, Jeff found a place to belong at Seth's Wish and became family. I'll never forget the year when I lived in Massey Hill in a teeny tiny house at the end of the road. Justin and Jeff knew how excited I was for my first Christmas there after a VERY rough year in my life, so they spent an entire day COVERING every inch of the outside of my house with Christmas lights 🤣 The way Justin made him and so many others feel included and loved was amazing.

I know that Justin and Jeff are with me and Jay a lot, and I am grateful and honored that we got to spend time with them before they moved on to a bigger and better place. I'll probably be sharing things from the new garden area a lot this summer as I add the many things that represent the people we miss so much.

I call the hydrangea bush the tie-dye hydrangea bush because Justin loves everything tie-dye 💜

We just received a beautiful dragonfly wind chime yesterday in honor of a woman who lived here in Fayetteville. Her family from out of town read about Seth and the wish that he made, and knew her heart for children and it moved them to honor her in the garden. I think that's one of my favorite things, the garden is a place that honors so many people from so many places and walks of life.

I'm reflecting a lot today and missing a lot of people

It's official.....our old location on Reilly Rd is officially rubble. They were there this week to demolish the building. The gentlemen working there were very understanding when my crazy behind pulled up asking if I could take a few bricks. I'll be putting them in the revamped Justin "Cartel" Kerr Memorial Garden (I'll be sharing pics later) because there's definitely a billion memories from that building, including memories of Justin, that so many of us will never forget.

A lot of us volunteers live literally down the road from the center, and it is SO WEIRD driving by, so far it's kinda like a punch to the gut. But it will get easier over time and I hope they build something cool in its place.

This would be a cool time to share memories from Reilly Rd in the comments, I'd love to hear them 💜

Happy Friday Seth's Wish Warriors! We have a mom and her daughter that need our help before the weekend is over.

Mom and her almost teen daughter have sustained their home for years, any time Mom has fallen behind she works so hard to catch up and uses resources available (like here at Seth's Wish) for clothes food etc. I've seen first hand her incredible work ethic and the love she has for her daughter and the heart she has for others. She has come through for other families that come to Seth's Wish for help without a second thought.

You all know, I am a huge advocate for "if we can keep a family IN their home and prevent that family from becoming homeless (especially if they have a track record of hard work) it stops a nearly impossible cycle of trying to get out of homelessness."

A lot of things came up for this tiny family these past few months, including car trouble, and mom had to come out of pocket to handle them. She was able to pay part of the last couple months of rent, but it was late, and catching back up is so hard when you're trying to dig yourself out of a hole and her landlord is on her back.

We need to cover $700 by the end of the weekend to completely catch her up. We can definitely do this right!?!?!?
