Every year on August 7th, we celebrate National Purple Heart Day, which recognizes the oldest military decoration in the United States for bravery and sacrifice. This symbol of valor has been awarded to an estimated 1.8 million US servicemembers who have been wounded or killed while serving their country.

Today, we take a moment to honor those who have been wounded in action.
