A youth leadership nonprofit providing character building, mentoring, and prevention programs.

AVPRIDE is a 25-year-old youth development, wellness, and leadership nonprofit. Our mission is to empower our youth to make informed decisions and become resilient & successful as conscious, productive, and contributing societal leaders. AVPRIDE has several youth programs that continue to grow and evolve as needs become apparent and funding sources are secured. AVPRIDE'S K-8 Enrichment Program supports student academic success, healthy life choices, and provides opportunities for volunteer community service and enrichment experiences, particularly in STEAM. The South Atlanta Youth Alliance programming provides opportunities for youth to develop leadership and decision-making capabilities through skills training, community wellness initiatives, career exploration, and volunteering.

October at AVPRIDE brings continued tutoring, hands-on learning during Fall Break, and a fall celebration where students can connect and have fun together.

This month also gives us opportunities to talk about healthy choices through Red Ribbon Week and show care for others during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. These experiences help our students grow academically and learn how to care for themselves and their community.

Thank you to our families for supporting the learning and meaningful moments that happen here each day.

As the days get shorter and the weather gets colder, remember to check in with yourself and the people you care about. 💙
How are you feeling? What do you need? Give yourself room to rest, stay connected, and ask for support when things feel heavy. You don’t have to handle everything alone.
A quick call, a shared meal, or a simple “How are you doing, really?” can open the door to a meaningful conversation.
Let’s look out for each other this season. Your mental health matters, every month of the year. 🍂

Responsibility starts with understanding what we are responsible for. 💜🎒

During Character Education at AVPRIDE, our students explored what responsibility looks like in their everyday lives through our “My Responsibility Backpack” activity. Students identified responsibilities they have at home and at school, from taking care of their belongings and completing their work to helping at home, following directions, and making good choices.

Activities like this give our students an opportunity to talk, reflect, and understand that responsibility is more than just doing what an adult tells you to do. It’s learning to take ownership of your choices and understanding the role you play at home, at school, and in your community.

Small lessons today help build responsible leaders tomorrow. 💜

This week at AVPRIDE, our students came together to create, collaborate, and share their ideas.

Through hands on activities, our students are learning that some of the best lessons happen when they have the opportunity to work together, use their creativity, communicate, and learn from one another.

At AVPRIDE, enrichment is about more than keeping our students engaged after school. It’s about creating a space where they can build confidence, strengthen relationships, express themselves, and continue growing. Learning together. Growing together. Making an impact, one student at a time.
