What a wonderful day celebrating Blind Americans Equality Day and White Cane Safety Day! 🦯💚

The Vision Resource Center is incredibly grateful to our community for coming together in support of blindness awareness, accessibility, and inclusion.

A special thank you to the Fayetteville Lions Club and Isabella from Taste of West Africa for welcoming us into Volta Space; to Michael Macias and ShaZion Newkirk for bringing the music; and to our community resource partners, FTCC, DSS, DSB, and Team River Runner, for showing up in support.

Thank you to Nancy Wheeler for leading Chair Zumba, our yoga instructor for sharing a moment of wellness, and Charlyette Wright and Latasha Smith for sharing their personal journeys in a meaningful conversation moderated by Fred Baker. We also thank local artist Malcolm Chester for beautifully capturing the day through live painting.

And thanks to Carrie Callahan from Veterans Affairs (VA) for partnering with us to put together this event!

To our members, volunteers, and community friends, we couldn’t do what we do without you!

Let’s continue listening to, supporting, and advocating alongside our blind and visually impaired neighbors. We all have a role in making Cumberland County more accessible and inclusive for everyone.

Our mission continues all year long! 💚

Congratulations to our Board Chair, Dr. Robin Peace!! We are proud of you !!!
