The Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina’s Heating Assistance Program will begin accepting applications on Monday, October 19, 2026.

The Heating Assistance Program provides heating assistance to eligible households throughout the Lumbee Tribal Territory. Applications will be accepted October 19 through November 13, 2026, or until funds are exhausted. Applications will be accepted between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Assistance dates are divided into the following categories:
October 19–23: Individuals ages 65 and older
October 26–30: Disabled individuals and veterans
November 2–13: All eligible households

Applications will be accepted at the Lumbee Tribe Housing Complex located at 6984 NC Highway 711 in Pembroke, NC 28372.

For more information, please call 910-522-2206 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Please share this information with family, friends, and Tribal citizens who may be in need of heating assistance this winter.

Update!!
Another load arrived a little after 11:00 AM today, October 14, 2026.

Ms. Sue stated she plans to order at least 2 more loads.
- The next load will be ordered once today's load is cleared.
- And another load will be ordered right before Thanksgiving.

Please keep checking the post for updates or go to the address listed in the post. Stop asking for the address — it is already posted. TAKE THE TIME TO READ.

Important Guidelines:
1. Do not block the driveway to the potatoes. You have permission to park in the field next to the pile, along the side, or along the road.
2. Be respectful, courteous and appreciative.
3. Do not argue, complain about size, or curse at Ms. Sue. She is a very kind lady who uses her family’s income to order these loads and give back to the community. She has ordered over 98,000 lbs of potatoes.
4. Get your potatoes and keep moving. Please don’t make her regret providing food for the community.
5. If you see her riding through on the golf cart, please say "Thank You."

There have been some very unappreciative citizens. Let’s do better.
