Camp Blount Bicentennial Celebration

Camp Blount Bicentennial Celebration Camp Blount is located along the South bank of the Elk River at Fayetteville, Tennessee.

It was the gathering place for Andrew Jacksons volunteer militia whose purpose was to remove the threat of the Creek Indians. In September of 1813 the Army of West Tennessee assembled at Camp Blount on the Elk River just South of Fayetteville. On October 7th, Major General Andrew Jackson arrived to take command of the Army which included Sam Houston and David Crockett. "Old Hickrory's" army Marched south to Alabama and defeated the Creek Indians at the Battle of Horseshoe Bend.
