Rotary Fayetteville, TN, chartered February 13, 1935, has a deep tradition of helping others locally

The Rotary Club here in Fayetteville holds many different annual events that benefit the prosperity of our community, which include: Fish Fry, a Fair Booth, Toy Drive, Career Day, scholarships for local high school students, dictionaries for young students in our local schools, and many more.

At this week’s Fayetteville Rotary Club meeting, incoming president Phil Prichard shared remarks about his love for America and his concern for the challenges facing our nation today.

Drawing from historical events he has witnessed throughout his lifetime from World War II, Korea, and Vietnam to the rise of school violence in America Phil emphasized one message above all others: America needs prayer.

He encouraged Rotarians to continue being leaders in service, compassion, and community while never underestimating the importance of praying for our children, schools, first responders, military personnel, leaders, and our country.

“God Bless America is not just a saying,” Phil shared. “It is a prayer.”

As he begins his year of leadership, Phil expressed his desire to strengthen relationships with other Rotary clubs, promote unity, and encourage a spirit of humility, hope, and service.

Thank you, Phil, for your passion, your vision, and your willingness to serve the Fayetteville Rotary Club. We look forward to a meaningful and impactful year ahead.

The Rotary Club heard from Amanda Griffin with Foster Friendly Communities during today’s program. Amanda shared information about the Tennessee Kids Belong initiative, which are helping connect children in foster care with loving families and strong community support.

Through the Kids Belong family of programs, faith communities, businesses, and local groups are being empowered to come alongside foster families with wraparound support to help reduce burnout and meet unique needs along the way.

It was a very good presentation that reminded us how important community involvement is in supporting children and families across Tennessee. Thank you, Amanda, for sharing the work being done to make a difference in the lives of foster families and children in need.

Thank you to the Rotary Club of Cleveland - TN and Rotary International District 6780 for the wonderful District Conference! Rotarians Carol Foster and Lucy Williams represented our club, enjoyed the 2026 Conference and particularly appreciated our club receiving the Polio Eradicator Award and the Reach Award for growth. In addition, Carol was honored by District Governor David Carroll for her work on the Brown/Bomar Scholarship Committee. GO ROTARY!!

Richard Lyon of Lyon Family Farms was today’s guest speaker, sharing the incredible story behind Lyon Family Farms.

Richard spoke about growing up in the Christmas tree business, learning the value of hard work at an early age, and how he and his wife Shelley took a leap of faith to start Lyon Family Farms in 2006. What began with pumpkins, hayrides, and a small gift shop has grown into a major seasonal attraction welcoming more than 50,000 visitors each fall.

He shared how networking with other agritourism operators, listening to customer feedback, and continually reinvesting into the farm helped transform the business over the past 21 years. Richard also emphasized the importance of creating memorable family experiences, adding new attractions every year, and supporting the local workforce by hiring more than 200 seasonal employees annually.

From corn mazes and pumpkin patches to concession stands and family entertainment, Richard reminded Rotarians that successful agritourism is about much more than farming, it’s about hospitality, innovation, and creating traditions that families return to year after year.

Thank you, Richard, for an inspiring presentation and for sharing the story of how Lyon Family Farms has become a treasured destination for so many families across the region.

Today’s Rotary meeting was packed with inspiration, community pride, and exciting news for Lincoln County.

Lindsay and Jeremy Thompson shared the story behind the success of the Revolutionary Tavern and their mission to make history come alive through food, storytelling, and community engagement. From “Tavern Talk Tuesday” videos to interactive Revolutionary War history experiences, their passion for Fayetteville and American history is making a real impact.

One of the biggest moments of the meeting came when Jeremy Thompson officially announced his run for the U.S. House of Representatives in Tennessee’s newly formed 9th Congressional District. Jeremy spoke about his years of military service, his commitment to faith, family, freedom, and his desire to serve Tennessee at the national level.

It was also great hearing community leaders speak about the Thompsons’ dedication, leadership, and heart for service.

A big thank you to Lindsay and Jeremy for sharing their story and vision with Rotary today. Exciting times ahead for Lincoln County and beyond!

Today, Carol Foster recognized Eugene Ham with the Two Sapphire Stone Pin, representing the second level of giving in the Paul Harris Fellow program.

This honor reflects Eugene’s continued generosity, commitment to service above self, and dedication to making a positive impact through Rotary.

Congratulations Mr. Ham and thank you for your faithful support of the Rotary Foundation and the work being done both locally and around the world!

Today at Rotary, we were happy to welcome Rick Yell and his wife, Annya, for a presentation about his book, Ghosts of Panama.

Rick shared the incredible true story behind this adventure which was a tale of history and the human spirit that comes to life along the Panama Canal.

Thank you, Rick and Annya, for sharing your experiences and giving us a glimpse into this unforgettable journey!
