Tri Cycle Farms has a dynamic team of AmeriCorps VISTA service members and volunteers who work together to build community through soil! And we have THREE openings!

We are looking for people who can work on a team as well as independently, who are creative and organized, have basic office skills as well as a good grasp of office software (graphic design experience helpful) and who are willing to go the extra mile to make a difference in the community for the Events Coordinator, Media and Community Outreach Coordinator and Business Development Coordinator AmeriCorps VISTA positions. These are full time, one-year positions. Ability to work Saturdays, some evenings and occasional Sundays is a must, though a typical week will be Monday – Friday, 8-5.

EVENT COORDINATOR
The primary goal of the Event Coordinator will be to organize and implement specific events in coordination with other VISTA team members and Tri Cycle Farms’ Project Leaders and implement the long-term development of Tri Cycle Farms as an event center and agri-tourism destination. This position will document event related metrics such as event attendance, frequency, event contracts, vendor services, value of in-kind donations, etc. This position will also facilitate a large range of classes at Tri Cycle Farms which includes recruit and corresponding with teachers, class promotion and class scheduling.

This position will expand and improve the Tri Cycle Farms’ Calendar of Events. The Event Coordinator will be expected to propose, develop and implement new events such as fundraisers, community support, art/theater, classes/workshops, neighborhood gatherings, and hospitality venue opportunities. The Events Coordinator will assist in the organization/implementation of established annual events such as the Pesto Fest, the annual meeting, the Fayetteville Seed Exchange, Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service, etc.

MEDIA & COMMUNITY OUTREACH COORDINATOR
This position will focus on Media Relations and Community Outreach. This entails the design and development of press and promotional materials, social media and multimedia packaging, design and upkeep an organizational archive, recruitment of media experts, photographers, videographers and mentor interns and/or work study employees with specialized skills. Current media connections will be maintained and communicated with on a regular basis as events and stories develop at TCF. Outreach to new media outlets will be conducted on an ongoing basis. This position will track the number of 'media minutes' for TCF and the amount and type of coverage, and track donated or volunteered professional services, along with cumulative media coverage to calculate an equivalent market value.

Updates to the TCF website and blog articles will be managed by this position both individually and through collaboration with other team members for content of imagery, photography and clarity. Website updates for all calendar entries with text and visual components for all classes, special events, and promoted workdays is included in regular maintenance. This position will gather content from other team members, proof/finalize and schedule social media posts several times a week and follow up with comments and answering all social media and email messages.

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR
The Business Development Coordinator's primary focus will be to evaluate existing membership and sponsorship programs for improvements. They will create effective membership packages to recruit and engage members and design corresponding surveys. Sponsorship and donation packages will be evaluated for improvements to create beneficial relationships with local businesses.

The VISTA member will organize member/sponsor appreciation days and an Annual Meeting to update current members on organizational milestones, and recruit new members. Metrics will be documented in a spreadsheet for all outreach events, TCF sponsors, TCF members, member retention and member satisfaction.

The Business Development Coordinator will outreach to local businesses to present the sponsorship package and arrange for meetings at the farm with the Director and follow up with these contacts on a regular basis. Individuals will be recruited for the TCF Membership program through email, social media, community tabling events and outreach to volunteers on a regular basis.

This position will work closely with the Grants and Resources VISTA and the Director to determine resources needed for organizational operations. All VISTA team members will develop an annual report to present at the Annual Meeting to inform TCF members and the public of achievements and milestones.

We are looking for an outgoing and positive individual with great communication skills, can work individually as well as on a team, and has a good general grasp of office software. Some graphic design and grant writing experience is helpful.

We are a certified-organic market garden in our 34th year of operation, marketing to the Fayetteville Farmers Market and selected natural food stores and restaurants in the Fayetteville area. Training includes all aspects of propagation, field preparation, harvesting, and marketing. Monthly stipend with room and board in a beautiful rural location one hour east of Fayetteville. Also available are short term work-exchange arrangements.

Friday, August 25

2:30-3:30 pm Vermicomposting—Composting with Worms

Join Jane Maginot with the U of A System Cooperative Extension Service for an in-depth look into vermicomposting. Find out how creating this rich compost can benefit your garden and reduce your food waste. This course will take you from the basics of what you need to know to start a worm bin to troubleshooting problems for established ones.

3:30-4:30 pm Backyard Gardening and Organic Pest Control

Luke Freeman will discuss how to grow a successful vegetable garden in the Arkansas Ozarks complete with tips and tricks for controlling garden pests organically. This information-packed presentation will also include strategies for w**d control, fertility, irrigation, and deciding what to grow. Luke is a horticulture specialist who works for the National Center for Appropriate Technology (NCAT) and he is the owner of Freckled Hen Farm and the general store Freckled Hen Farmhouse with his wife Natalie.

Join Chef Heather Artripe of Ozark Natural Foods and Hey Good Cookin’ for a Late Summer Harvest cooking class. In this class, we will be using some summer favorites to make mouthwatering dishes. We will make a Smoked Summer Pasta Salad which includes bell peppers, cherry tomatoes, red onion, smoked cheddar, and the secret ingredient, applewood smoked salt. We will also make a Goat Cheese Tomato Pie. This savory pie will be sure to leave a wonderful taste in your mouth and inspire you to use this season’s harvest to cook your own delicious dishes at home.
