Sandhills Jazz Society

Sandhills Jazz Society Whether you're a musician or just an avid music fan, Sandhills Jazz Society welcomes all

The Sandhills Jazz Society was founded out of determination, passion, community need and of course, the love of music. We were incorporated in 2018 as a community-based, nonprofit artist/educational organization located in Fayetteville, NC. From the onset, the society has worked diligently to help establish Fayetteville as a center for the creation and exchange of sounds between local, national, a

nd international music communities. We are a 501c3 whose mission is to promote interest in jazz music across multiple generations, to actively engage a new generation in the efforts of the Society, and to have fun producing a financially viable annual All-American City Jazz Festival. We want to not only increase the appreciation of the music, but to strengthen the arts community by developing special projects, artistic exchanges, partnerships, educational workshops, community programs, and collaborations that further the art form. Our vision encompasses a wide spectrum of jazz, blues, world, creative, and improvised music, including evolving forms of jazz and the technologies and media that influence jazz as an art form.

🎷 Happy Mother’s Day from the Sandhills Jazz Society!

To the women who provide the rhythm to our lives and the harmony in our hearts—Happy Mother’s Day!

Today, we celebrate the incredible mothers, grandmothers, and mentors in our community. Much like a great jazz standard, your love is timeless, soulful, and always hits the right note. Thank you for the endless "improvisation" you do every day to keep the melody of our families moving forward.

It is such a joy to see these students hitting their stride! They have officially reached their third week, and the energy in the room was electric as the class divided into two focused groups to dive deep into hands-on application.

I managed to capture a few "behind-the-scenes" moments of them in action—they were so deeply immersed in the technical work that they didn't even notice the camera! It’s incredibly rewarding to watch them master the core pillars of live production:

Technical Mastery: The Signal Flow
The teams successfully navigated the entire signal path, ensuring a seamless transition from source to sound:

Professional Excellence
Beyond just making noise, these students are learning to be true professionals by prioritizing:
• Safety & Standards: Mastering power handling to keep every set-up secure.
• Precision: Executing clean, expert-level cable management.
• Collaboration: Maintaining clear, effective team communication under pressure.

We couldn't be prouder of the dedication and teamwork on display. These students aren't just learning—they’re becoming a cohesive production crew!

Our first Live Music Production class and the students jumped right in and crushed it. They explored what live audio engineering really is, learned how a basic audio signal path works, and got an overview of the full live sound ecosystem — FOH, monitors, cables, and more.

They mapped out a full signal path from the power source to the monitors, identified common equipment on their own, and practiced proper cable coiling, staging, and connecting monitors like pros.

Proud of this crew already — they’re off to an amazing start! 🔊🔥
