It’s the final week of the Healing Hearts Club camp. One of the most impactful lessons is when children have the opportunity to take their pain to the cross. Tomorrow is the final day, and we are praying that children’s hearts and lives would be changed because they’ve had to opportunity to heal from their pain and trauma. Would you us in praying for the children attending the camp?

Today was another day of Healing Hearts Club, and here is a photo of the boys that you can pray for. The lesson was about saying how we feel and what happens when we keep our feelings inside. The language for feelings in Liberia can be quite limited—most people use words like “fine” or “alright.” It is important for children to learn to talk about how they are feeling because they might be angry, frustrated or disappointed. Through the use of games, activities, stories and the story of Joseph, hearts are being healed. ❤️

Would you join us in praying for the Healing Hearts Club that will start up again tomorrow? Pray for the children who will participate in the camp over the next three weeks. Pray for the facilitators, as they help children process their pain. Pray for safety as everyone travels back and forth three days per week. Pray for life change and heart change. Today was the first day of the Healing Hearts Club Camp. The camp is an incredible gift to the children participating—a safe space to process pain and to learn tools to handle grief and loss in the future. All of this while encountering the God of Comfort. The camp will continue throughout August, and we still need funds to cover meals and transportation for the children attending. The team is working hard to prepare for the Healing Hearts Club Camp! The camp will be a time for children to process their trauma and grief, and to experience the love of Christ as they find healing. Tomorrow is my birthday, and I’m still asking people to make a donation to Red Meets Green so that our staff can hold a trauma healing camp for children in Liberia. The Healing Hearts Camp is a powerful time for children to process their grief/pain and be able to find healing and freedom in Christ. Providing trauma healing to the families that we serve is my favorite thing. Our staff fosters opportunities for life-changing encounters with the great Healer, and teaches skills to navigate future grief and loss. Hope happens here!

Red Meets Green’s incredible social workers plan to host a Healing Hearts Camp in Liberia next week, which will provide biblically-based trauma healing for 20 children. You might remember the story of a cross-border collaboration between us and a partner organization in Sierra Leone. Two organizations that are passionate about children living in families joined together to reunify a girl who had been trafficked to Sierra Leone. The story of Em is one that we are still so humbled to be able to play a small role in. And now, Em’s story has been turned into a picture book, where you might see a few familiar [illustrated] faces. It’s amazing what happens when you just say YES! Happy to report that Em continues to thrive after reunification with her family, and her family benefits from our programs. As an organization, we will go to great lengths to make sure families are together. And because of our incredible staff and donors, Em and her family are together!
