Friends of Cumberland County AnimalS The mission of the FOCCAS is to work in conjunction with CCAC to promote animal welfare initiatives. This is an open intake, county shelter.

This page is managed and maintained by volunteers supporting the Cumberland County Animal Shelter, the animals under the shelter's care and the community the shelter serves. IT IS NOT ADMINISTERED, MANAGED OR AFFILIATED WITH CUMBERLAND COUNTY GOVERNMENT OR THE CUMBERLAND COUNTY ANIMAL SHELTER. Animals WILL BE EUTHANIZED for space when the shelter is full, as it is every week. DO NOT wait if you ar

e interested in any animal listed. Page Policies:

- Rude comments, personal attacks on shelter staff, volunteers, county officials, page admins, former owners or anyone else WILL NOT be tolerated. Admins will ban people who do not follow this policy.

- Comments found to be threatening, hurtful or offensive in nature will be removed and the commenter may be banned.

- We give you permission to share our animals and pictures - PLEASE DO! However, please leave contact information attached to the picture so that, four shares later, someone wanting to help or adopt one of our animals has the correct information.

- We cannot place a hold on animals through this page. YOU MUST CONTACT THE SHELTER DIRECTLY at 910-321-6852.

- Animals should not be considered safe until word comes from this page that the animal has left the shelter.

- All animals have only a 72 hour required hold and with the volume entering the shelter each animal should be considered extremely urgent.

* owner surrender by no fault of his own due to owner's financial hardship and he needs a space to run and play
* dog friendly; he's happy/playful with them - per previous owner
* greets with smiles and tail wags
* quiet and calm in and out of kennel
* walks well on leash
* housebroken - whines we he needs to go out
* know sit, lay down, and stay commands
* loved exploring and sniffing in the yard
* gentle treat taker, well mannered
* friendly, happy, playful, loveable pup

Diego is a happy, goofy, playful boy. He greets everyone with excitement, and tail wags. He's everything you would expect from a pup - kisses, tail wags, curiosity, and love. He's said to be friendly with other dogs and is playful and happy with them. He enjoys your company and wants to be near you. He's still just a pup with his whole life ahead of him. He simply needs a family to share his love and his life with. Our shelter is full, please come meet him.

Belle is a gorgeous girl with beautiful eyes and a soft fur coat! She loves to see visitors and is always ready to spend some time together. She is a friendly and happy girl who wants to get back to having a home and a family to share her life with. Can you give beautiful Belle a home, she sure hopes so?

A few things about me...
* 2 year old Pit Bull Terrier

* heartworm positive but it's treatable and not contagious
* brought in as stray; found on Ramsey Street
* hangs out on his bed mostly but comes up to his door to check things out
* quiet and calm in and out of the kennel
* a little shy at first; he welcomes attention and warms up once he feels safe with you
* easy to leash and walk
* super easy going dog
* attentive and wants to please
* gentle treat taker
* well mannered and listens well
* leans in close to your legs for back scratches

Fernando is little shy in the noisy shelter environment. He would much rather be in a home. He was curled up on his bed when we first met. He welcomed me into his space to leash him up to go out to the yard for some fresh air. He wants to trust and receive pets and comfort. He has good leash manners and followed along beside me. Fernando is a calm, gentle, and submissive boy. He leaned in close for back scratches and relaxed more once he knew I meant him no harm. Fernando is ready to leave the shelter life behind and get back to having a home and family to share life and love with. Please don't pass the quiet/shy ones by they too have plenty of love to give.

Diamond greeted me with tail wags and quickly showed off her sweet personality. She's well behaved in and out of the kennel. She
walked good on leash and stayed right by my side. She's pretty laid back, and was content with just spending time together. Diamond knows sit for treats and she will give you gentle kisses for pets and ear scratches.
This super sweet girl is hoping for a family to love. She is medium in size and will make a great furry companion. Come meet her soon, our shelter is full!

* the noisy shelter environment is a little overwhelming for her and she prefers a home

Rose is calm and quiet. She loves blankets and she hangs out on her bed. She wags her tail when you stop by her kennel. She enjoys gentle pets and back rubs. Rose takes treats gently and gives kisses to thank you! She's gentle and eager to please. She has great leash manners and stays close by your side. She enjoyed her break outside and leaned in close to my legs for pets. She took care of her business right away, I would day she is likely housebroken. This sweet girl needs a family quickly and she hopes you will come meet her. Our shelter is full.

This sweetie is "Baby" and she was adopted from a neighboring county shelter about 6 months ago. It turns out she was pregnant and had puppies a short time after they adopted her. The apartment manager will no longer allow pets and now "Baby" is in our full shelter.
The previous owner gave detailed information on her surrender form. This is just a little info. they shared. They say "she enjoys walks, being a lap dog, and is house trained. She loves treats and is not much of a toy fan."
Baby is a sweet girl who simply wants to love and be loved in return. She's super good and wants to please. Baby leaned in close for pets and attention. She is a loving, well mannered girl who deserves a family to love and care for her. Our shelter is full and Baby just needs someone to care about her life. Please help her.

* he's full of tail wags, wiggles, and puppy kisses

Lewis was happy to see me and showed off by wagging his tail in excitement. He enjoyed his time outside exploring the yard and checking out all the new sights and smells. Once he satisfied his curiosity he was ready for pets and cuddles. Lewis is a well behaved pup. He knows to sit for treats and he takes them gently. He's smart and wants to please. Lewis is looking forward to having a family, a yard to play in and a comfy bed to snuggle in a night, can you help him out?

A few things about Mugsy...
*about 9 months old; a Terrier mix

*greets you at his door; a little shy at first but he warms right up and welcomes your attention
*calm and quiet in and out of his kennel

*took treats gently from my hand and gave little kisses for them
*attentive and wants to please

Meet Mugsy. He's just a baby in a big shelter. He's smaller than he looks in this picture. He weighs just 31 pounds and is about 9 months old. He came in with 2 other pups, Peanut and Rigsby, they were found together with no owner around. It appears as though all haven't had a great life. Mugsy is a sweet pup. He's shy at first but wants to trust and will quickly be your friend. He warms up once he sees you're there to give him love. He doesn't mind pets and he wants nothing more than to be loved.
I gave him a treat and he took it gently from my hand. He's a very submissive pup and he's so eager to please. Please don't pass him by because he is shy! Mugsy needs help quickly, the shelter is full.

Leo is the sweetest little fella. He has a loving and happy personality and the best smile. He isn't very big and is a perfect size for anyone. His previous owner said he enjoys going on walks. If you are looking for your next walking buddy Leo will be happy to stroll along. He is said to be good with dogs, cats, kids and even livestock. If you think Leo may be the perfect fit for your family, come on and meet him. He would love to share life and love with you...and a few puppy kisses too! Our shelter is full and Leo needs you!
