They say friendship is an art built on good relationship habits...something the Butterfield neighbors of 2nd Floor South know and are putting into practice! After learning their June floor meeting wouldn't be taking place, Residents Donna Trumbo and Frances Sego decided to take matters into their own hands, and they scheduled a "Girl's Gab" for just the women on the hall. Carolyn Schmitt, Rosalind Weeks and Judy Ingels rallied together to get everything set up and arranged. Nineteen of the floor's 31 ladies (plus one lucky visitor) gathered after-hours in the Bistro, enjoying snacks and beverages while sitting in a big circle. They talked about where they'd grown up and interesting things about their lives, with both long-time and newer residents learning lots of interesting things about each other. The consensus was clear: DON'T wait so long to have another get-together! These ladies hope others will be inspired to do the same. ❤

📸Special thanks to Frances Sego for thinking to capture photos and share them!

✈️🇵🇹Tchau, boa viagem! It took TWO buses to get this fun group of 27 BTV travelers to the airport and on their way to Portugal. We know they're going to have a fabulous time, and we'll be watching for photos to be sent back home so we can keep you posted about their many adventures!📸

🪴🎍🌿This week brought the return of the BTV Garden Tour, and those who attended were treated to gorgeous blooms, thriving veggies and herbs, and wheelbarrow loads of sunny smiles! The residents who lovingly tend the Sensory Garden, the Butterfly Garden, the newly refreshed Raised Beds Garden and the big garden along Old Missouri Road were on hand to visit about their work...and even swap a few experienced growing tips.

📸The usual BTV photographer didn't quiiiiite make it to the big garden this time around (but thankfully we shared a bunch of colorful images from that spot a few days ago.) Extra thanks to Jo McClarrinon for taking and sharing great photos of everyone who visited the Butterfly Garden that she and Rick McClarrinon pour their enormous hearts into. (Notice that Rick managed to pose with many lovely ladies, winning him Most Photographed Gentleman for the month of June! 😉)

A fun crew of water-loving adventurers loaded up the Butterfield bus and headed to Lake Fort Smith State Park for a guided pontoon boat ride with park interpretor Rick Croson. The water was beautiful, the picnic lunch tasty, and the company was excellent...a perfect way to enjoy a summery Wednesday! 😍🚤🌲

Butterfield is a Village of lifelong doers, full of people who have always shaped and nurtured their communities, wherever they may have originally called home - and now here. Building community is intentional, requiring effort, forethought, commitment and consideration. Today, the residents of BTV's Village Homes arrived en masse to visit their neighbors who reside in our Health Care Center. The committee of lovely ladies you see pictured made it happen...and everyone else in attendance made it special. Coming down the hall of Butterfield's 24/7 skilled nursing facility this morning meant a greeting of the sound of laughter and conversation, enhanced by warm hugs, listening ears and nonstop smiles. THIS is community, sometimes planned...sometimes spontaneous, always and forever cherished.🥰

The 3rd Floor South crew wrapped up their "Moms Heritage Month" tribute over the weekend with a fun hall gathering – featuring residents' stories about heirlooms inherited from their mothers. 🌷🩷

Carol Spears recapped a few details about what was shared, "Many wore jewelry their mothers gave them. Claire is holding a teapot that came from Germany when her ancestors immigrated in 1848. Beth is holding a vase that her mother painted, which she and Bryce used in their wedding. Inza’s mother and sisters all collected majolica. She is holding a parrot, but she and her sister inherited all kinds of critters, even a snake piece! Inza is also holding a needlepoint pillow her mother made. Ginger's grandmother made the crocheted throw she now treasures. We all enjoyed sharing our 'her-stories' and discovered many of us inherited the same things – cut glass, china, gold rings, bracelets, necklaces, scarves and pearls, etc. Jane wore pearls inherited from her grandmother and worn by her mother when she graduated from high school."
