Our first CNY Pride parade! Thanks to the 22,000 people who showed up to support our communities this weekend, and to our volunteers for giving the work truck a makeover and handing out wildflower seed packets, butterfly stress balls, and frisbees (until we ran out). Special shout-out to Onondaga County Public Libraries for bringing so much energy to our part of the parade and sharing the love.

We had a great time talking about community science in Central New York at this year's Healthy Water Solutions Meeting at SUNY ESF! Our Executive Director joined a panel with Professors Aaron Ninokawa, Jen Goff, Jamie Shinn, and water sector professionals from the Institute for Sustainability Engagement - EFC Region 2. We also heard from our friends at Cayuga Lake Watershed Network, Cortland-Onondaga Federation of Kettle Lake Assoc. Inc., Onondaga Environmental Institute and Lake George Association about the latest in workforce development, water testing, and the things that make upstate New York so unique. Thanks to the HWS Center of Excellence at Clarkson University and SUNY ESF for pulling off another excellent meeting this year. Stay tuned for results from last year's community science sampling, and how to get involved this coming Fall!

CNYLT through the ages! This week the Land Trust got a special visit from Jim Karp, retired SU environmental law professor and one of the founding members of the original Save The County back in 1972. In his book, "Central New York Land Trust: 50 Years of Conservation," Jim quotes author Richard Nelson: "What makes a place special is the way it buries itself inside the heart... [e]very place, like every person, is elevated by the love and respect shown toward it, and by the way in which its bounty is received." Thank you Mr. Karp for all the passion you and others have brought to saving land here in New York.

Kicking off the weekend with some macroinvertebrate research and a peaceful paddle on Limestone Creek! Professor Aaron Ninokawa from .esf joined us at the new Polly Monz Nature Preserve to take water samples and look for native clams, snails and crayfish. Macros are important indicators of water quality, and will help us better understand this important floodplain and other priority waterways here in Central New York.
