NWA Prison Story Project

NWA Prison Story Project We are a storytelling project that benefits women and men in prison.

Participants explore their truths through poetry, creative writing, literature, song-writing, and visual art. The goal of the Prison Story Project is to enable those whose voices have been locked away to tell their stories allowing communities to witness the humanity of the women and men we serve, through their own words.

Please join us on December 16th at 6:30pm on the Central Synagogue livestream for an evening with founder and Executive Director of the Equal Justice Initiative, author of the award-winning New York Times bestseller Just Mercy, and acclaimed public interest lawyer Bryan Stevenson. He will speak about his work, provide insight into the state of the criminal legal system in New York and around the country, and inspire us with stories from his incredible career helping the poor, the incarcerated, and the condemned.

Ritual 4 Return, an innovative theater program that helps people returning from jail and prison re-enter society, will open for Mr. Stevenson with an original piece based on the experience of coming home. Central is proud to house Ritual 4 Return, and we are honored both by Mr. Stevenson's visit and the opportunity to support those walking the difficult path of teshuvah (repentance).

Don't miss this powerful evening, which will surely inspire and galvanize our ongoing pursuit of justice for all. This event is made possible by the generous support of the Himan Brown Charitable Trust.

Event Details:
Thursday, December 16th at 6:30pm
