Juneteenth 2026: Honor the History. Share the Joy.

This June 19th, join NWA Black Heritage in Fayetteville, AR, for a festive march through the historic heart of our community—the Branch and the Valley.

We are marching to honor generations of striving, resilient human beings, and to celebrate the hard-won freedom that began on June 19, 1865.

What to expect:
The powerful rhythm of the Golden Thunder Drumline (Pine Bluff, AR).

Black riders on horseback honoring Otis Parker (1889–1976)—a master horse trainer, breeder, and community anchor who once filled these same streets with the joy of pony rides for local kids.

When you learn, you know… and a little joy is shared. Let’s celebrate together!

Artist Jeffry Cantu's exhibition at Fort Smith Regional Art Museum on January 24 is a must see.

The beauty is in the details 👀🔍

This intricately woven artwork by artist Jeffry Cantu will be on view in our newest exhibition in January. Join us January 24, from 5 – 7 pm for our Opening Reception | Jeffry Cantu: Sublime Abstractions! Cantu studied art at the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith and his work draws influences from his Mexican culture and from his period stationed in Japan as a member of the United States Navy. Cantu creates layered and textured artworks that explore the multifaceted aspects of personal experiences, relationships, and cultural influences that shape one’s identity.

Reception is free with light refreshments provided. After opening night, this exhibition will be on view through June 1, 2025. Exhibition is sponsored by Univision & Telemundo, Merrill Lynch – Lawson Hembree Group and the Dr. Henry J. Udouj, Jr. Family.
