Workshop alert!! Looking for more ways to connect and create during Pride Month? Join us on Wednesday, June 24th from 6-8 p.m. for a generative workshop with poet Toni Garcia-Butler, where we’ll pull inspiration from Audre Lorde’s “Uses of the Erotic” as we DIY our own bodies through poetry. Full description below ⬇️

🎟️ Tickets for this workshop are $20 each, and can be purchased through the link in our bio ().

Special shoutout to for hosting us in their space!! Can’t wait to spend the evening writing with you all 💞✍️

Workshop Description:
In “Uses of the Erotic: The Erotic as Power”, Audre Lorde pulls from her experience as a Black le***an woman feminist as she speaks to the power of fully-present embodiment—a power that when channeled and combined with others, can be a catalyst for revolutionary change.

Poet Toni Garcia-Butler invites you to look at Lorde’s work through a gender-expansive lens. In choosing “the yes within ourselves”, pursuing truth and knowledge, and rejecting “the fear of feeling”, Transq***r people step into an autonomous way of being—rejecting their suffering and disrupting oppressive cultural norms.

In this generative workshop, participants will read and discuss [excerpts of*] Audre Lorde’s “Uses of the Erotic”, draw connections to poems from Garcia-Butler’s chapbook, DIY Body, and create their own poems of personal embodiment. We’ll expand upon eroticism as a sensory experience and capture the fullness of feeling in our writing. Open to all levels of experience.

Writing is a living practice. It shows us that we don’t have to travel far to change ourselves or endure change. 🌿❤️‍🔥 In this intermediate class, join Julia Paganelli Marin for three dynamic nights together: one class to feel and draft what is alive in you, reading the examples of other poets tapped into their green, living selves; one class to workshop your poems with fellow writers, giving and receiving insightful feedback; and finally, a reading showcasing the polished work of the writers who participated in this class, where friends and family can come and listen. This methods class is based in Julia’s own writing practice, and assignments outside of class will be offered to deepen the class experience.

✍️ Class 1: November 30, 4:30-6:30 p.m. at
💬 Class 2: December 11, 6:30-8:30 p.m. at
🎤 Reading: Date and location TBD (January, to allow time for revision)
