Moving Forward Together: A Message from Your New Department Senior Vice Commander
To the Members of the Department of North Carolina VFW,
I want to express my deepest and most humble gratitude to all of you for entrusting me with the responsibility of stepping into the role of Department Senior Vice Commander. It is an honor I do not take lightly, and I am incredibly eager to continue serving our great state.
Over the past year as your Department Junior Vice Commander, I had the privilege of traveling across North Carolina, visiting over 40 VFW Posts for regular meetings, special events, and District gatherings.
Every single stop reminded me of the strength of our community. It was truly wonderful to explore new corners of our state and meet so many dedicated comrades. Thank you all for the incredible hospitality and warm welcomes you extended to me along the way.
As I have always promised: I am here to represent YOU. The members are the true heartbeat of the VFW. Your dedication, hard work, and passion are what drives this organization to success.
Looking forward, our focus remains sharp on legislative advocacy at the Department level. This work is at the very core of why the Veterans of Foreign Wars exists.
The Reality: North Carolina currently boasts the 4th largest Veteran population in the nation, yet we still hold the title of the "Most Veteran-Friendly State." But we are not!
We must change this. I am asking every single Post to actively engage in our legislative efforts. Together, we need to be the driving force in North Carolina to push for laws that genuinely better the lives of our local veterans, their families, and survivors.
I want to extend my heartfelt congratulations to Past Commander Ed Beard for a highly successful and impactful year of leadership. Looking ahead, I am excited and proud to work alongside Commander Mickey Biggs in the coming year to build upon that strong foundation.
Please always remember that the Department is here to support you in achieving your missions at the District and Post levels. We are a team. Never hesitate to reach out to us—we are here to help!
