BALM IN GILEAD “DAILY INSPIRATION”
When we think of Mary, the mother of Jesus, we think of Christmas stories. We think of Bethlehem, the manger and the baby Jesus. It is right
to do so. Yet, I wonder if the story of Mary is more than a story of Christ’s first coming. Might it, might she, be a picture of what Christ wants to do in us?
God gives you the same offer He gave Mary—the supernatural deposit of His son in your life. Scripture “is replete with the promise: Jesus lives in His children.
Christ is it not just near you or for you or with you—He is longing to be in you. God offers you the same Christmas gift He gave Mary—the indwelling Christ. Christ grew in her until He came out. Christ will grow in you
until the same occurs. Christ will come out in your speech, in your actions, in your decisions. Every place you live will be a Bethlehem, and every day you live will be a Christmas. You, like Mary, will deliver Christ into the world.
Mary, in a moment of disclosure, related what the angel Gabriel said to her.
Lk. 1:35 The angel replied, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the baby to be born will be holy, and He will be called the Son of God.
When Jesus’ earthly ministry was in operation, He and the Holy Spirit always worked together. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit (Luke 1:35); empowered by the Holy Spirit (Matthew 3:16); and led by the Holy Spirit (Matthew 4:1). Jesus also healed people by the power of the Holy Spirit (Acts 10:38); cast out demons by the power of the Holy Spirit (Matthew 12:28); was resurrected from the dead by the power of the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:11); and was seated at God’s right hand in the heavenly places through the power of the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 1:19,20).
“This Christmas Day, I confess that I am led by the Spirit of God. I am careful not to make big decisions without consulting Him first. The Holy Spirit is my Leader, my Teacher, and my Guide; therefore, I look to Him to help me make the right decisions and take the right actions in every sphere of my life — my family, my business, and my ministry. Every day I experience more and more victory because I allow the Holy Spirit to direct all my steps.
I declare this by faith in Jesus’ name! Amen!”
