Many thanks to the family, neighbors, friends, and community members who gathered with us for the unveiling of Theressa Hoover’s historic plaque at Mount Sequoyah United Methodist Church in Fayetteville. Her work, dedication, and perseverance helped shape opportunities for generations, and her legacy continues to guide the path forward.
We carry that legacy by continuing the work — preserving history, sharing truth, and imagining what a more connected and equitable future can look like for Northwest Arkansas.

Join us for another meaningful gathering as we continue learning and growing together. We’ll be at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art for the Grand Opening Ceremony of “America 250: Common Threads.”

Let’s keep building community, honoring the past, and shaping what comes next.

Black history is not distant. It is not finished. And it is not separate from the world we are living in right now.

This series of events invites our community to gather, reflect, celebrate, and create — through art, conversation, architecture, and shared space. From gallery talks to hands-on workshops, each moment is rooted in the understanding that Black history carries not only struggle, but brilliance, creativity, resilience, and joy.

The voices that shaped this history — before, during, and after the Civil Rights era — did so with courage and care, often in the face of resistance. That reality didn’t disappear with time; it evolved. And still, so did the joy, imagination, and community-building that continue to carry these stories forward today.

Join us in honoring Black History Month not as a chapter closed, but as a living, breathing story — one that invites curiosity, connection, laughter, learning, and togetherness.

Event details are shared throughout this post series. All events are free and open to the public.

As we approach Martin Luther King Jr. Day, we invite our community to gather, reflect, and show up for one another. These upcoming events honor the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr., while also remembering that he was never alone in his message.
Long before him — and long after his assassination — there were countless Black leaders, organizers, faith leaders, and everyday people carrying the same call for dignity, justice, and humanity. His voice mattered deeply, but it was part of a much larger movement powered by many hands and many hearts.
These events create space to learn, connect, and honor the collective work that continues to shape our communities today.
We hope you’ll join us — not just in remembering history, but in being present with one another now.

The Black Futures Corridor represents the realization of cultural wellness—a living vision of art, history, beauty, nature, learning, rest, and joy. Our table exhibit features our award-winning concept, The EDGE, a space where these elements come together in harmony.

We extend heartfelt thanks to everyone who voted and supported this journey!

Join us at the Community Wellness Fair in the Heartland Whole Health Institute Ballroom, part of the Crystal Bridges Arts & Wellness Festival.
