Southeast American Indian Studies at UNC Pembroke
It’s time for Book from the Nook!

Please welcome Eric Hernandez, Lumbee tribal member and Champion Hoop Dancer, as our guest reader!

Today we’re enjoying A Letter for Bob, a heartwarming book that celebrates the special bond between a family and their beloved car, Bob. This book was written by Kim Rogers of the Wichita and Affiliated Tribes and illustrated by Jonathan Nelson of the Navajo
Nation.

Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.

Congratulations Jenna Grace!

🎓 The Cumberland County Association of Principals and Assistant Principals (CCAPAP) awarded $1,000 scholarships to qualifying CCS seniors, with one recipient selected from each high school across the district.

These scholarships support students as they prepare for the next step in their education and help defray the cost of higher learning.

Indian Education Summer Camp 2026 was a blast!

We were jam packed with fun and exploration

Day 1: We visited the Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina Culture Center. The kids loved learning all the history, playing stick ball and touring the grounds.
Thank you to the Lumbee Culture Team! (Reggie, Brad, John and Taylor; Miss Lumbee) ❤️💛🖤🤍

Day 2: We played with clay and paint 🎨 We also had a great time doing team building activities with the CITs with Cumberland Parks and Rec. Thank you Tyshica for all your help!
The students also designed and made their own necklaces! 😍

Day 3: The students engaged in FIIRE lessons through AISES learning about microbits and coding. They also created their own windmill using the STEM kits. The students also built and designed their own planes with kits from Home Depot. We also explored the Cape Fear Botanical gardens 🌿🌱🪷
