📚 You're Invited to Our Writing & Creativity Group!

Hello everyone!

I'm excited to announce the launch of a new Writing & Creativity Group, and I'd love for you to be a part of it! Our very first meeting will be held on Saturday, August 8th, 2026 from 2:00-3:45PM

Location: Cliffdale Library Fayetteville NC

If you're interested and are available to attend our first meeting, please comment below and tag me or send me a private message with your contact information.

If you can't attend the first meeting but would like to join future groups, please reach out as well! I want everyone to have the opportunity to connect, make new friends, express themselves creatively, and become part of our growing community.

Virtual Attendance Available

For those who are unable to attend in person, I will also be hosting the meeting through Zoom. If you're interested in joining virtually—especially for meetings later in August or September—please send me a message so I can add you to the virtual attendee list.

While virtual participation is always welcome, I encourage anyone who is able to attend in person to do so. Meeting face-to-face allows us to build stronger connections, get to know one another, and create a more personal and welcoming environment.

Everyone Is Welcome

Our group is open to everyone. We welcome people of all ages, backgrounds, ethnicities, genders, sexual orientations, experience levels, and creative abilities. Whether you're a lifelong writer or simply looking for a creative outlet, you'll have a place here.

August Theme: Paper Crafts & Creative Writing

During the month of August 2026, our focus will include:

- Writing
- Journaling
- Reading
- Coloring
- Scrapbooking
- Paper crafts
- Other paper-based creative hobbies

In future months, we'll expand to include additional creative interests such as painting, beadwork, mixed media crafts, and more. My goal is to create a space where everyone can find a creative community they enjoy.

If you have a hobby that isn't listed and would like to see a group created around it, please comment below (and tag me) or send me a private message with your contact information. I'd love to hear your ideas and help bring people with similar interests together.

Thank you to everyone who plans to attend our very first gathering! I'm looking forward to meeting each of you and building a supportive, creative community together.

If attending in person isn't possible, I hope you'll still join us on Zoom from the comfort of your own home. For those who appreciate a quieter, more intimate setting, I'll also have a smaller, comfortable space available in my home to help everyone feel welcome and at ease.

📖 Calling All Stationery, Writing & Craft Lovers! ✨

Hi everyone!

My name is Chey, and I've lived in Fayetteville since October 2025. Since moving here, I haven't had the opportunity to make many local friends, so I thought I'd create something I've always wanted to be a part of—a welcoming stationery, writing, and creative group!

I'm looking for people who enjoy things like:

- Journaling
- Creative writing
- Poetry
- Drawing
- Coloring
- Cricut projects
- Crafts
- Pens, notebooks, and stationery collecting
- Anything creative!

The goal is to create a relaxed, supportive environment where everyone feels comfortable expressing themselves, meeting new people, and enjoying creativity together.

Proposed Schedule

I'm thinking about meeting twice a week for approximately one hour each session.

What a Typical Meeting Would Look Like

📝 Opening Writing Time (5 minutes)
We'll begin with five minutes of uninterrupted writing or drawing. The idea is simply to let your creativity flow without overthinking. If writing isn't your thing, you're welcome to sketch or doodle instead.

💬 Optional Sharing (10–15 minutes)
Anyone who would like to share their work is welcome to do so, but sharing is never required.

If feedback is requested, it should always be respectful, encouraging, and constructive. Everyone deserves a safe and positive space to create.

To help keep the group comfortable for everyone, we'd ask that shared pieces avoid graphic or potentially triggering topics. If you're unsure whether something is appropriate to share, you're welcome to ask the host privately after the meeting.

During writing and sharing time, everyone will be asked to refrain from talking so each person has the opportunity to focus and be heard.

🎨 Creative Activity (Approximately 30 minutes)
Each meeting will include a writing prompt, craft, coloring activity, or other creative project. If the prompt doesn't interest you, you're always welcome to work on your own writing, artwork, or creative project instead.

🌻 Closing
We'll finish with optional sharing and positive discussion before wrapping up.

A Few Simple Group Guidelines

- Everyone is welcome, regardless of experience.
- Respect one another.
- Kindness and encouragement are expected.
- Drama and ongoing conflict won't be tolerated so we can keep the group enjoyable for everyone.

Meeting Location

My home is available if needed, but my husband and I are cigarette smokers, so I know that may not be comfortable for everyone. If anyone has a smoke-free space they'd be willing to host, I'd love to hear from you!

I'm really excited about the possibility of building a creative community here in Fayetteville and making some new friends. I hope you'll consider joining us!

My name is Cheyenne "Chey" L. Wood, founder of Chey's Haven – Outreach & Thrift.

If you're doing some summer cleaning or have items that no longer fit your lifestyle, we'd be grateful to accept your donations! Every donation helps us support individuals experiencing homelessness and those in addiction recovery.

A few questions we often receive:

Do you sell donated items?
No. We do not sell donated items unless the donor specifically gives us permission.

Where do the items you sell come from?
The items we sell come from storage units and wholesale inventory that we purchase using our own personal funds.

What happens to the money from those sales?
Every dollar earned is reinvested into our outreach efforts by purchasing hygiene products, clothing in needed sizes, and other essential items for the homeless and addiction recovery communities.

Do you provide cash assistance?
No. We do not distribute cash or checks. In certain situations, we may provide gift cards to essential businesses, such as Food Lion, when appropriate.
