Today was all about the people who keep our All-American City moving!

From the cowboy hats and friendly competition to the laughter, food, and unforgettable moments, the 2026 Employee Appreciation Luncheon and Health & Safety Fair brought us together for something special — celebrating the hardworking employees who give so much of themselves every single day.

Our Fayetteville Police Department family showed up, joined the fun, shared some laughs, and enjoyed a little friendly competition! 💙

Key Requirements:

Minimum of 3 years of sworn law enforcement experience

Minimum of 2 years of investigative experience in any detective unit OR 1 year of investigative experience as a Crimes Against Persons Detective

Current and valid NC Basic Law Enforcement Training certification and valid driver's license

As our community cleans up damage from Sunday’s severe weather, the Fayetteville Police Department reminds residents to be cautious of scammers looking to take advantage of those in need of repairs.

Before hiring someone to remove debris or repair storm damage:
• Verify the company’s credentials and check references.
• Get a written estimate and agreement outlining the work and cost.
• Avoid paying the full amount upfront.
• Be cautious of unsolicited offers, high-pressure sales tactics, or demands for immediate payment.
• Take your time, ask questions, and research your options before handing over money.

The Fayetteville Police Department is currently accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA®) and is required to comply with 470 standards to maintain accredited status.

As part of the four-year accreditation cycle, CALEA conducts annual web-based assessments to evaluate the Fayetteville Police Department's continued compliance with applicable standards.

🔗 Agency personnel and members of the community are invited to offer comments via the Public Comment Portal at https://cimrs2.calea.org/610.

The purpose of this public portal is to receive comments regarding an agency's compliance with CALEA standards, engagement in the service community, delivery of public safety services, and overall candidacy for accredited status. These comments can be in the form of commendations or concerns. The overall intent of the accreditation process is to provide the participating agency with information to support continuous improvement, as well as foster the pursuit of professional excellence.

In honor of CITY EMPLOYEE APPRECIATION DAY tomorrow, I figured it was time to make a special appearance!

Because apparently I've been out here building a whole relationship with the City of Fayetteville through Facebook posts, questionable weather predictions, and my ongoing personal battle with people who refuse to use their turn signals. 😭

AND HONESTLY?!

I WOULDN'T HAVE IT ANY OTHER WAY. 💙

But since we're all here, I guess it's time I tell y'all a little secret…

🚒 Firefighters keeping us safe.

🚧 Public Works crews keeping things moving.
📞 Customer service staff answering the same question 47 different ways while remaining professional.
💻 And all the behind-the-scenes employees making the magic happen!

Y'ALL DESERVE YOUR FLOWERS. 💐💙

For laughing with me every Monday morning.

Introducing FPD Myth Busters, the Fayetteville Police Department’s new series dedicated to addressing misconceptions, sharing facts, and answering questions about law enforcement in our community.

There has been a lot of news, conversation, and misinformation about license plate readers lately. In our first episode, we’re setting the record straight about how Automated License Plate Readers (ALPRs) are being used in our community—and explaining what these cameras can and cannot do.

Fayetteville Police Assistant Chief Michael Petti Sworn In as Incoming 2027 President of FBI National Academy Associates North Carolina Chapter

The Fayetteville Police Department proudly recognizes Assistant Chief Michael Petti following his swearing-in as the incoming 2027 President of the FBI National Academy Associates (FBINAA) North Carolina Chapter.

The FBI National Academy Associates is an international professional organization comprising graduates of the FBI National Academy, a highly respected leadership development program for law enforcement professionals. The organization promotes continued education, professional development, leadership, and cooperation among law enforcement agencies throughout the United States and internationally.

Assistant Chief Petti is a graduate of the FBI National Academy's 266th Session in 2016. He has served on the FBINAA North Carolina Chapter Executive Board for the past four years, demonstrating his continued commitment to professional development, leadership, and strengthening partnerships within the law enforcement community.

The North Carolina Chapter, which represents approximately 400 active members, provides opportunities for law enforcement professionals to exchange knowledge, participate in advanced training, and develop partnerships that support public safety across the state.

As incoming President for 2027, Assistant Chief Petti will take on a statewide leadership role, helping guide the chapter's initiatives, support professional training opportunities, and strengthen collaboration among law enforcement executives and agencies throughout North Carolina.

His selection for this position marks a significant professional achievement and highlights the important role Fayetteville Police Department personnel continue to play in advancing law enforcement leadership beyond the local community.

The Fayetteville Police Department congratulates Assistant Chief Petti on this accomplishment and looks forward to his continued contributions to the law enforcement profession as he assumes this new leadership responsibility in 2027.

Now FAYYYETTEVILLEEEE, while I’m over here making responsible wardrobe decisions, can we PLEASE make some responsible DRIVING decisions too?!

Let’s get into it:

🚗 SPEED LIMITS: They’re not personal challenges. You don’t get bonus points for beating them.

🚸 SCHOOL ZONES: Slow it DOWNNNN. The kiddos have enough going on trying to remember their multiplication tables.

🚌 SCHOOL BUSES: Pay attention to those flashing lights and stop when required. Those babies have places to be!

📵 PHONES: Whatever is happening on TikTok can WAIT. The algorithm will survive without you for 15 minutes.

🚦 TURN SIGNALS: Please use them. We are not participating in a citywide guessing game this morning. 😭

And PLEASE remember…

Just because you woke up late doesn’t mean the rest of Fayetteville signed up to participate in your emergency. 😂

That 8:00 AM meeting is NOT the finish line at Daytona.

ANYWAYYYYY…

It’s a new week, FAYYYETTEVILLEEEE!

I’ve officially retired my second layer.

And we’re all just trying to make it through the day without regretting our outfit choices. 😭😂

But through the questionable weather, the wardrobe malfunctions, and the Monday morning foolishness…
