Working towards President, Chris DeVlieger’s new Literacy Challenge of “One Book. One Member. Big Impact”, we placed Altrusa stickers in books to be shared in Little Free Libraries throughout Fayetteville.

Thank you to Wheeler Fire Chief, Mike Oxford, for joining us at our last meeting and speaking to us about how our donations of Comforting Children in Crisis stuffies are making a difference in treating and comforting children in emergency situations.

Attention all Fayetteville Altrusans! District Eight is sponsoring three workshops in the next couple of months that are great leadership/learning opportunities. I will be speaking at the September workshop in Jonesboro and would love some company on the ride over.

Altrusa International of Fayetteville, Arkansas offers the Lillian Woods Scholarship grants of $1,000 each year.

ELIGIBLE APPLICANTS
> Residents or attendees at a post-secondary institution in Washington County
>>>Have a dependent child or children living with them
Enrolled in a minimum of six credit hours for Fall semester

HOW TO APPLY
>Download and complete simple application form that includes a brief introduction of yourself, your current situation, and your goals.
>Provide two (2) letters of reference from community, career, or academic connections
>Provide current transcript and/or enrollment forms or class recommendations from your academic adviser
>Complete and submit application form by July 30

For the Altrusa International District Eight Conference service project, clubs in Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma donated items for two different shelf-stable meals plus dessert. Members assembled more than 100 kits, which included the recipe and all the needed ingredients. The kits will be given to female veterans at a special event at the Arkansas Air and Military Museum on May 23rd.
