***FLASH FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT THROUGH FRIDAY MORNING***
The National Weather Service in Charleston has issued a
* Flash Flood Watch for portions of northeast Kentucky...southeast
Ohio...southwest Virginia and West Virginia, including the
following areas, in northeast Kentucky, Boyd, Carter, Greenup and
Lawrence KY. In southeast Ohio, Gallia, Jackson OH, Lawrence OH,
Meigs and Vinton. In southwest Virginia, Buchanan and Dickenson.
In West Virginia, Boone, Cabell, Jackson WV, Kanawha, Lincoln,
Logan, Mason, McDowell, Mingo, Northwest Fayette, Northwest
Raleigh, Putnam, Southeast Fayette, Southeast Raleigh, Wayne and
Wyoming.
* Through Friday morning
* A slow moving low pressure system is approaching the area from the
west. It will produce periods of heavy showers and thunderstorms
with rainfall amounts up to around 1.5 to 2.5 inches, with
isolated higher amounts possible. This may lead to flooding issues
in low lying and vulnerable areas.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to
Flash Flooding. Flash Flooding is a very dangerous situation. You
should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should
Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
Do not enter or cross flowing water or water of unknown depth.
