Meet Amy Cooper, BSN, RN, CEN, Patient Safety Coordinator- Performance Improvement & Quality-Infection Prevention!

Over the past 10 years with Cape Fear Valley Health, I have had the opportunity to grow both personally and professionally. I began my journey as a staff RN in the Emergency Department at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center and have since served in several roles, including Lead Charge Nurse and ED Performance Improvement Supervisor. Six months ago, I transitioned into my current role as the Quality and Patient Safety Coordinator at Bladen County Hospital.

My favorite part of my job is knowing that the work I do directly improves patient safety. Whether I am implementing new processes, educating staff, or analyzing data, I enjoy seeing meaningful changes that lead to better outcomes for our patients. Having the opportunity to positively impact every patient who comes through our hospital is what inspires me each day. I also love that there is always something new to learn, making every day an opportunity for growth.

One of the greatest gifts throughout my career has been the people I've had the privilege of working alongside. My coworkers and mentors have challenged, encouraged, and supported me every step of the way, and they have played a huge role in shaping the person and healthcare professional I am today.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, and spoiling our three dogs. My husband and I also love spending as much time as possible on the beach, where we can relax, recharge, and make memories together.

Meet Regina Berumen, RN, Cardiac Nurse in Bladen County Hospital Emergency Department. Regina has worked for Cape Fear Valley Health for 16 years now!

"I tell everyone that I have the best job. It provides me with the opportunity to see patients improve physically, take control of their health and quality of life. After spending 36 sessions with each patient, they become family and friends. They help me grow as nurse in knowledge and compassion. It is the most rewarding position I have had during my nursing career."

"I wanted to be like my aunt, to care for the patient like they were my family members while maintaining professionalism. It's not hard if you enjoy what you do."

"Outside of work I enjoy spending time with family and friends, whether that's enjoying a dinner or just hanging out in the back yard oasis watching the grandbabies and pups exert more energy than a AAA battery. Life is good."
