Fayette Area Community Theatre will perform Mister Roberts on August 15 and 16 at 7 p.m. and August 17 at 3 p.m. at the Tricky Fish Community Hall outdoor stage.

The play is a comedy about life II Navy cargo ship. This show opens on the 80th anniversary of V-J Day and commemorates our nation’s heroes and the end of the war.

Mister Roberts features a predominantly male cast as well as
two United States veterans—one of the Marine Corps, and one
of the Army Reserve/National Guard. This show is to honor all
of our veterans. Director and title character John Parker says,
“To the men and women for whom this isn’t just a story: you’ve
lived what we can only imagine in the Army, Navy, Marines, Air
Force, or Coast Guard. You’re the reason we get to keep telling
stories. You refused to be merely spectators when your nation
needed you. This is an insufficient thanks, but it is a
wholeheartedly genuine thank you. This is your show.”

Tickets can be purchased at all Fayette banks and at the door—
$8 for adults, $4 for students; US veterans and children 3 and
under get in free. The American Legion Fayette Post 273 will be
serving concessions. Overflow/airconditioned seating will be
available for viewing the show on a screen.
