Congratulations to Josh Kirby, who has been selected by our community as the 2026 Grand Marshal for the Fayette 4th of July Party in the Park Parade! 🎉

We are incredibly grateful for Josh’s service to our country as an E-5 Drill Sergeant, where he served as a platoon sergeant, squad leader, and team leader, leading and mentoring more than 270 soldiers throughout his military career.

Thank you, Josh, for your leadership, dedication, and selfless service. We are honored to recognize you as our 2026 Grand Marshal as we celebrate America’s 250th Birthday and our community’s patriotic spirit.

The Howard County American Legion Post #273 will be providing Concessions for the Party in the Park. We will have Pulled Pork Sandwiches, Hot Dogs with assorted Chips and Sodas/Water. Come on out and get some excellent Pulled Pork and support your American Legion Post!

Howard County American Legion Post #273 is having our Monthly Fundraising Breakfast this Saturday, 20 June from 0700 - 1100. Price is a donation, it is Biscuits & Gravy, Scrambled Eggs, Pancakes, Sausage and Bacon. Makes me hungry just typing this post. Come & get it!

Flag Retirement. Howard County American Legion Post #273 is holding a Flag Retirement on Flag Day 14 June 2026 at noon. We already have quite a collection of Flags to be retired but still have room for more. If you have a Flag that needs to be retired, bring it to the Post.

On 14 May 26 Howard County American Legion Post #273 members George Befort (2X Purple Heart Decorated), Kirk Klingler and Richard Smith attended the Purple Heart Trail Dedication Ceremony in Salisbury, Missouri becoming the latest city in Missouri to join the Purple Heart Trail, https://www.purpleheart.org/. George has had a determined goal of making Missouri the 1st State in America to have all Counties designated as Purple Heart Counties and George has been successful! Great work George!
