🏔️ FROM MISSISSIPPI TO THE MOUNTAINS OF COLORADO — THE MOVEMENT IS GROWING! 💪🏾🔥
What started as a grassroots response to childhood obesity is continuing to travel, expand, and inspire communities across the country.
In this WJTV 12 News interview, “Jazzy J” and share the story behind bringing the PHAT to Fit Olympic Games to Boulder, Colorado for its first annual event.
PHAT stands for Physical Health And Training, and the mission is bigger than one day of games. We are creating environments where children and families can:
🏃🏾♀️ Move their bodies
🩺 Know their health numbers
🧠 Increase their health literacy
🤝 Build stronger community connections
🎉 And most importantly — HAVE FUN GETTING FIT!
For Janell and Kenneth, this Colorado expansion was also a beautiful full-circle moment. From their days together at Savannah State College to standing together decades later in service to children and families, the assignment has grown — but the spirit of leadership remains.
This is what happens when we decide:
will another generation inherit preventable illness without being given the tools, knowledge, encouragement, and opportunity to choose wellness.
Boulder is not the finish line.
It is another starting point.
🌎 Our vision is to see the PHAT to Fit Olympic Games become a model that communities across America can implement to help create a legacy of wellness instead of illness.
