Congratulations to our 2025 Kap Paesens Memorial Scholarship Recipient: Jayden Arthur

Jayden exemplifies what it means to be a Clare Pioneer—excelling in the classroom, on the field, and in the community. A three-sport athlete in football, basketball, and baseball, Jayden also maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA throughout his time at CHS.

Beyond academics and athletics, Jayden dedicated himself to community service and supported his classmates as a peer tutor. One nominating teacher summed it up best:

“It’s not Jayden’s academics or athleticism that set him apart for this nomination, it’s that he’s a genuinely nice person to everyone he encounters.”

Jayden will be continuing his academic journey at Central Michigan University, where he plans to study Engineering.

We are incredibly proud of Jayden and can’t wait to see all he will accomplish.

On this Masters Sunday, as golfers chase their final round glory, we're proud to announce the final chapter of our own tradition. Thanks to you, what began as a way to honor Kap's memory has grown into something truly special.

We are incredibly grateful for the unwavering support over the past five years. Because of your generosity, we are humbled to share that the Kap Paesens Memorial Scholarship has officially reached a level that will continue forever.

The Fourth Annual Kap Paesens Memorial Golf Outing is officially in the books, and once again we are extremely blessed by the generosity in our community! When planning something like this there are times when one can get a little discouraged, but there small moments that make all that work worth it. Today we had lots of those moments but one in particular stood out when a group of individuals noticed our scholarship winner, Owhin Thompson, bidding on an iPad during our silent auction that he planned on using for college. Unbeknownst to him they bid him up and won that iPad, and gifted it back to Owhin during our closing ceremony. We thank that group that organized that, and that was certainly a “Kap-like” move. Thank you to Eagle Glen Golf Club for once again hosting our event, and allowing us to go through with some of our crazy ideas. As always, whether you sponsored a team in our outing, volunteered, or simply support our mission - WE THANK YOU!

We are proud to announce our fourth recipient of the Kap Paesens Memorial Scholarship: Owhin Thompson. Owhin was nominated and selected based on his work ethic in the classroom, in his fields of competition, and his daily job at the local hardware. Throughout his HS career Owhin has competed in Football, Wrestling, and Track. He was also a member of the Business Professionals of America and the National Honor Society. Owhin juggled all this while working many hours at the local hardware - if you’ve stopped in before he’s probably helped you. His quiet demeanor does not stop him from being passionate about all his endeavors, and his genuine kindness to others. Owhin plans to continue his education at Northwood where he will major in finance. Congratulations Owhin!
