Rotary Club of Farragut salutes Bill and Dinah Vogel and has honored them with Paul Harris Fellow awards for their years of support for the Triukhan family from Ukraine.

"The Vogels' story with Julie Triukhan began nearly two decades ago when she came to the U.S. as a Rotary Youth Exchange student at The Webb School," Farragut Rotarian Bill Nichols said. "In 2022, in that moment of crisis for Julie and her family, Bill and Dinah did not hesitate. They worked tirelessly to bring the family safely to Knoxville. They gave them a place to live, helped find employment for Julie, found her transportation. But most important, they gave them stability, dignity and hope during a time when they were desperately needed," he said.

In accepting the award, Bill Vogel told of their love of Julie and her children. "They became part of our family. When the war broke out, we saw pictures of them in the basement and had to reach out to her. Dinah performed miracles to get them to this country through the United Ukraine process."

Dinah is glad the family has been reunited with Julie's husband Dima, who was unable to join them in America because he was on the front lines of the fight for his country. "Polly was just 18 months old when they were separated, so she hardly remembered him," she said. "Now they are together in Valencia, Spain."
