Train. Train. Train. 🔥

Your Farmington NM Firefighters train every single day — weekdays and weekends — to be ready for anything.

While everyone sees the fire training, we also stay sharp on the critical, less-glamorous side of the job: constant EMT and Paramedic continuing education.
So when you call 911, you know a fully staffed fire truck with nationally certified EMTs and Paramedics is rolling up to help.

That’s the level of dedication you deserve. Proud to serve Farmington!

At approximately 12:04, Engine 5 arrived on scene of a workin structure fire with flames and smoke showing. FF Featherman and Captain Hill made an offensive attack into the garage to gain fire control. As other crews arrived, an additional hose line was pulled by Engine 6 and made entry through the front door to stop fire spread into the main part of the house.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is still under investigation

Protecting your home from wildfire starts with defensible space—the buffer zone that can make all the difference.

• Zone 0 (0-5 ft): Keep it ember-resistant with gravel or hardscape—no mulch or plants touching the house.

• Zone 1 (5-30 ft): Lean, clean & green—remove dead vegetation, keep grass short, and space shrubs.

• Zone 2 (30-100 ft): Thin trees and eliminate ladder fuels.

This isn’t just landscaping—it’s life-saving preparation. Let’s make our community wildfire-ready together! Questions? Comment below or reach out to us.

Big day for the Farmington Fire Department! đźš’đźš’
Today we proudly welcomed two new frontline fire engines—Engine 1 and Engine 2—into our fleet.

Our members extend a huge thank you to Union President P. Logan and Union Vice President T. Rightmire of IAFF Local 2850 for their tireless dedication and leadership in making this possible.

We also deeply appreciate the New Mexico State Legislators for securing the NM Capital Outlay Funds through Local 2850. Your support directly strengthens our ability to serve and protect our community.
Honoring tradition, we continued two cherished fire service rituals:
• The push-in ceremony, where our crew manually pushed the new apparatus into the bay—a practice dating back to the horse-drawn era when firefighters had to push heavy hose carts and ladder wagons home after calls.
• The transfer of water ceremony, symbolizing the unbroken passing of generations of service, responsibility, and commitment from the old rigs to the new.

These modern, safer, and more efficient engines will help us continue delivering top-tier protection to Farmington, NM.
Thank you again to IAFF Local 2850 leadership and our state legislators—your investment in us is an investment in the safety of our entire community.
Proud to serve. Always ready.
