SHOES FOR KIDS 2026

Nearly 300 children in our community received brand-new shoes and socks!

This is what community is truly all about! We incredibly proud of our Rio del Sol Kiwanis members/volunteers and our Shoes for Kids program.

For many of us, a new pair of shoes may seem like something small, but for a child, it can mean so much more. It’s the confidence to walk into school with their head held high, the comfort of having shoes that fit properly, and the freedom to run, play, and learn without worrying about their feet.

The impact goes far beyond a new pair of shoes. ❤️

Programs like Shoes for Kids help ease the financial burden on families, support children’s physical and emotional well-being, and remind our youngest community members that they matter, they are valued, and their community is rooting for them.

Seeing the smiles on these children’s faces, watching volunteers kneel down to help them find the perfect fit, and witnessing so many people come together for one purpose is a beautiful reminder of why community service matters.

A huge thank you to All-Star Brand Builders for joining us and recognizing the hard work that goes into making this event possible. Thank you to every Kiwanis member volunteers, Candid with Candis Photography , Farmington High School Key Club, Carpet One Floor and Home Farmington, NM Boys & Girls Clubs of San Juan County volunteers and community partner who donated their time, resources, and hearts to make this event a success!

Nearly 300 pairs of happy feet. Nearly 300 children reminded that their community cares. Countless moments of kindness that will reach far beyond this one day. ❤️

This is why we serve. This is why we give back. And this is why I’m so proud to be a Kiwanian!

Small acts of kindness create BIG impacts! ❤️👟

Our special guest for the 10/08 meeting was Sheriff Shane Ferrari. He gave a history and evolution of the San Juan territory into San Juan County in 1887. These times were fraught by the murderous Ike and Porter Stockton and the George Coe gangs. The first sheriff was Dan Sullivan; Sheriff Ferrri is the 37th.

He gave a synopsis of the major events and advancements that have occurred during his time, such as: the post covid loss of deputies, the multi-agency shutdown of a huge illegal ma*****na farm near Shiprock , numerous technical advances to help track down and apprehend criminals, more cooperative actions with the Navajo Police and better actions and personnel to interact with mental health crises.
