Tonight, we were reminded what makes the FABC community so special.
A parent shared the following message with us after an injury at the fields this evening:
"Tonight, my oldest Son slipped on the bleachers at Roberto 2 and sliced his thigh open. As I panicked, while trying to find something to control the bleeding. We had a crowd of parents, and coaches gather around us to help. One parent even took the shirt off his back to apply pressure. Coaches brought out first aid kits, and began wrapping his leg. Mothers, even nurses were there to talk me through it. As we left the field, the crowd grew with concern, and support for what had just happened. Stitches later we are home and he is doing well.
Long story short, I didn't get a chance to thank everyone who helped. I would like to extend all my gratitude for those who stepped in to help us in that moment. I am unsure what I would have done without the FABC community. So again, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. My son is hoping to play in the Aztec tournament this weekend with his team. He is one tough kid, but we couldn't have done it without you. Thank you, and God Bless!"
We are grateful to hear he is home and doing well. Thank you to the parents, coaches, nurses, and community members who stepped in to help during a frightening situation. The willingness of so many people to immediately lend a hand is a reminder that FABC is more than baseball, it's a family.
As a reminder, a fully stocked first aid kit is available in the press box for emergencies. If assistance is needed, please reach out to a coach, board member, or league official.
We wish him a speedy recovery and hope to see him back on the field soon.
