Warnerettes Parasol Drill Team

Warnerettes Parasol Drill Team The Warnerettes re-enact suffragettes campaigning for the right to vote during Fred Warner’s terms as Michigan governor, between 1905 – 1911. Want to join?

"Freddie Warner is our guy!" Dressed as suffragettes, the ladies of the Warnerettes parasol drill team perform routines for local events and parades to promote the Governor Warner Mansion and Farmington history. Formed in 2009, by Sharon Bernath, the Warnerettes Parasol Drill Team marches in the Farmington Founders Festival Parade and other local parades to promote local history, civic engagement

and the Governor Warner Mansion. Fred Warner, our namesake, supported women’s rights in Michigan, where women voted for president in 1917, two years before the 19th Amendment to the Constitution granted suffrage nationally. The Warnerettes rehearse Monday evenings from 7-8 pm. Give us a call! NO EXPERIENCE IS NECESSARY! All women high-school-age and above are welcome. Currently, ages vary from under 16 to over 70. All you need is a black parasol with a curved wooden handle, available at area Target stores. We hope you'll join us!
