It was a pleasure to welcome our guests today whom we presented a Club Flag and some background about the history of Farmington Rotary. Murugappan Hari Vasuderan from the Rotary Club of Hosur, India has been a member for over 10 years. They have 45 members who meet for dinner on Thursday evening each week. Hosur is in Southern India (just north of the equator) where it is tropical and they have local forests with elephants, leopards, Bengal tigers, barking deer (?), Gaur (Indian Bison), and sloth bear. Water supply in the animal reserves is inconsistent so The Hosur Rotary Club raises funds to build step-dams to provide adequate water supply year-round.
Their impression of Farmington is that it is "neat and clean". Praga came to America in 2016 and works at CVS Health (Aetna) in Hartford as a Data Scientist developing AI software. He wants to join our Club. We look forward to any and all collaborations.

This week we honored a few members with awards, spotlighting their commitment and loyal contributions to our community. We also welcomed Kim Oliver as our new Chapter President. Matt Vendetti may be stepping down from his interim role, but he will continue in various roles, supporting the chapter and our local community. We are very excited for this upcoming year. We are focused on growth.

If you are interested in learning more about how you can get involved volunteering some time to help Farmington, please reach out or come join us at a luncheon.

On Tuesday, March 10, The Rotary Club of Farmington presented the Paul Harris Fellow Award to former Town Council Chair Joe Capodiferro in recognition of his long service to the Community as a Farmington police officer (26 years) and member of the Town Council. The Paul Harris Fellow (PHF) Award, named for the founder of Rotary, is Rotary's highest honor and recognizes significant contributions to the Community for extraordinary service and exemplifies Rotary's ideal of "Service Above Self.”

Presenting the PHF Award is Farmington Rotarian Mary Lou Wadsworth and District Governor April Beston.
Congratulations to Joe and thank you for everything you do!

What a huge success! Thank you to all of our veterans who joined our Farmington Rotary Veterans Day Appreciation Luncheon yesterday! We would also like to extend our gratitude for our two guest speakers.

Abby Wadsworth Boretto discussed her remarkable video “The Ring and the Mountain” about her dad’s 1970 Naval Academy ring being recovered in 1993 from his fatal
helicopter crash that occurred in Norway in 1972. Our second speaker, Marine Corp Gunnery Sergeant Xavier Pacheco discussed the “Toys for Tots” program run annually during the holidays by the Marine Corp.
