100 Backpacks Ready for School! 🎒

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who purchased items from our Amazon Wish List and helped make this year's school supply drive a success!

Over two volunteer workdays, we assembled 100 backpacks that will be distributed to children across the three regions of Navajoland.

If your family needs school supplies, please contact or visit your local vicar. We are grateful to everyone who donated, volunteered, and prayed for this ministry. Your generosity helps our children begin the school year with the tools they need to learn and thrive.

Our Navajoland youth continue to have an amazing experience at the Province VIII Youth Event in Hawaiʻi!

Yesterday, each of our youth participated in *Talk Story*, sharing a piece of who they are through personal stories, their faith, their families, and their culture. It was a beautiful opportunity to listen deeply and learn from one another.

Today is our delegation's turn to share the story of the Episcopal Church in Navajoland. We are excited to introduce our diocese, our Diné culture, and the journey that has shaped our church. We'll be sure to share the video as soon as we receive it!

We also spent time at Camp Mokulēʻia, where we experienced Hawaiian culture through a poi-making demonstration, learned about lauhala weaving, and enjoyed the beauty of God's creation together. Along the way, we've shared wonderful meals, heard an incredibly talented slam poet, and continued building friendships with youth from across Province VIII.

We can't wait to share more photos and stories from today's presentation and from our service project tomorrow at a local homeless shelter. We have one full day of camp remaining before spending Friday serving our neighbors in Hawaiʻi, then boarding our overnight flight home.

These have been full days, full hearts, and moments we'll carry with us long after this pilgrimage ends. Mahalo to everyone who has kept our youth in your prayers and followed along on this journey. We look forward to sharing even more with you soon!

Our Navajoland youth have officially arrived in Hawaiʻi for the Province VIII Youth Event, and while the program begins tomorrow, we've already had an incredible start to our pilgrimage.

Today we experienced some of Oʻahu's breathtaking beauty, visiting the scenic Nuʻuanu Pali Lookout and wandering through the lush gardens of Hoʻomaluhia Botanical Garden. We also spent time at Ala Moana Center, one of the world's largest open-air shopping centers, where we enjoyed a free hula performance that gave us a glimpse into Hawaiʻi's rich culture and traditions.

We'll end the evening with pizza and, if the weather cooperates, a swim in the hotel pool. The ocean currents are too strong today, so the beach is off limits, but we were able to enjoy the ocean yesterday. Some of us swam, some dipped our feet in the water, and others spent quiet time praying along the shoreline. It was a beautiful way to begin this journey together.

We are grateful for this opportunity and are looking forward to the Province VIII Youth Event beginning tomorrow. We can't wait to share more photos, stories, and all that God has in store for our youth throughout this pilgrimage.

A special thank you to the Rev. Annalise Castro Pasalo for spending the day with us, sharing the beauty of Hawaiʻi, and introducing us to places that reflect the history, culture, and spirit of these islands. Your hospitality and generosity made our first full day in Hawaiʻi truly unforgettable.

We're almost there!

Thanks to the incredible generosity of so many people, we're close to having everything we need to fill 100 backpacks with school supplies for students across Navajoland.

A huge thank you to everyone who has purchased items from our Amazon Wish List, and to Mar Thoma Church for their amazing donation of school supplies. Your kindness is making a real difference.

There are still some items we need before we begin distributing backpacks in just two weeks. If you're able to take a look at our Amazon Wish List and purchase one or more of the remaining items, it would be a tremendous blessing.

One of our biggest remaining needs is flash drives. As many schools continue to move toward digital learning, students often need them to save and transport homework, presentations, and other school projects.

Every item, no matter how small, helps a student begin the school year with the supplies and a little snack that they need to succeed.

Greetings from Washington, D.C.!

Our six youth from the Episcopal Church in Navajoland are having an incredible week exploring our nation's capital alongside their hosts at St. Mark's Capitol Hill. We're so grateful to Kit Arrington for leading this experience and to our chaperones, Ryan and Raina, for walking alongside our youth every step of the way.

So far, the group has visited the Navajo Nation Washington Office, where they learned more about how the Navajo Nation is represented and served at the national level. They also spent time at the Washington National Cathedral, taking in its beauty, history, and place in the life of The Episcopal Church.

There has been plenty of fun, too! The group worked together to conquer an escape room challenge, explored the city together in the evening, and enjoyed walking around the U.S. Capitol as the sun began to set.

Washington, D.C. has certainly reminded them that summer is in full swing. It's been hot, they've walked many miles, and everyone is definitely feeling tired. But through it all, they have been making memories, learning together, laughing together, and experiencing new places as a community.

Please continue to keep our youth, Ryan, Raina, and everyone at St. Mark's Capitol Hill in your prayers as this journey continues. We can't wait to share more of their adventure with you!

🌲 Giving Tree – A Season of Gratitude 🌲

This Christmas season, the Giving Tree ministry through ECN was carried forward by many hands and open hearts. Through this effort, 118 children in Navajoland were cared for, each one remembered through thoughtful and generous gift-giving.

The Giving Tree became a gathering place, where presents were wrapped, food boxes assembled, and holiday goody bags prepared. Meals were shared, stories were told, and laughter filled the space, reflecting the strength of kinship and community.

This work was guided by gratitude and the teachings of caring for one another. We give thanks to the Creator for the spirit of generosity that moved through every person who participated and for the connections strengthened along the way.

Thank you to every church, family, and individual who supported the Giving Tree. Your kindness helped make this season one of warmth, dignity, and hope for 118 children and their families.
